Unfaithful Music & Soundtrack Album is a compilation underscoring Elvis Costello's new memoir 'Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink,' compiled and sequenced by Costello himself to offer the deepest emotional connection of the themes and stories of his book. This 38-track, 2-CD set contains a selection of hits and Costello's favorite songs, including two previously-unreleased titles; 'April 5th' - written and recorded with Rosanne Cash, Kris Kristofferson and John Leventhal - and one of Costello's earliest solo recordings, 'I Can t Turn It Off' from 1975.The collection also features three exclusive 'audio book sketches' - that do not appear in the published memoir - and a 28-page booklet providing the complete lyrics and many unseen photographs, several of them from the MacManus family album. This version of the CD is autographed, and quantities are limited.

INCREDIBLE! 39 STARS!!!
What Elvis has compiled here is a gift to the purchaser. More than a "greatest hits" compilation, but a great primer for those less familiar with his diversity and talent, or a reminder for those who've lost touch with what this man has to offer. His earliest works hold up beautifully, and his later creations fulfill their promise. His lyrics are thoughtful and intelligent, layered over some of the most interest and satisfying musical creations. Unlike many of his contemporaries whose careers have lasted this long, he's never cheated his audience or become self indulgent.Thank you ELVIS!

<3 Elvis Costello et all.
This is the best collection! I wish there was a movie along with the Unfaithful Music, the book is a wee bit tedious.

Of course, some gems you may not of heard. But as s companion to the book...brilliant idea. May be a good introduction for some EC beginners.

Amazingly diverse. Always lyrically very clever.
As other reviewers have pointed out this Cd pair is an excellent showcase for the diversity of Costello's work. I bought everything he put out from the day of release of My Aim is True through to Blood and Chocolate (his 11th release I think) but rather lost track of him after that apart from the occasional release, notably with Burt Bacharach. So I found this a really good way of gaining an insight into some of the many styles he has investigated over the years, which will probably result in me now increasing my collection (probably starting with Spike).Despite the diversity of styles the constants are his voice, which I admit is something of an acquired taste (it works perfectly with punk but can sound a bit too strained sometimes) and his incredible lyrics. Having said that, his singing on the previously unreleased song April 5th, written and performed with Rosanne Cash and Kris Kristofferson, demonstrates how well his voice is suited to country.Quite often I tire of "greatest hits" collections, but this one is getting played and played. One of the UKs greatest of the last 40 years.

Just wow!!!!
What an artist. Stellar songwriting that blows everyone else away. Yes there's other great musicians out there, but Costello is way ahead of the pack. Those first 14 years he didn't put a foot wrong, well hardly anyway. Since then he's branched out and become so eclectic it's hard to keep up. Moving from classical to Jazz, torch ballad, Country, rock and back to pop music. Collaborations across many genre's too, but all of it sounds and feels like Costello. If you haven't heard him before, start here then go and buy those first 15 albums, including the two compilation of besides ( out of our idiot and Ten Bloody Mary's). The 1994 release 'Brutal Youth' is also a must have.In short one of the most dynamic and prolific artists ever. And yes I'm a fan.
