On PVC threaded connections, It works where others fail.
I found that many professional PVC workers in the spa and irrigation trades are recommending "blue" thread sealants for PVC threaded fittings such as the Blue Magic for use on PVC threaded joints. I had previously tried the Weld-On Beige All Seal Pipe Joint Compound in response to a recommendation from LASCO but had problems with getting it to seal in a small number of cases as I rebuilt several sprinkler irrigation valve manifold assemblies (12 valves and 64 threaded joints).I ordered some of the J.C. Whitlam Blue Magic from Amazon and I must say that it does work better. There were a couple of places where 1" close nipples were being used to connect a threaded union to a threaded valve body, and using the Weld-On beige product, I ended up with a very slow leak (@80psi). I took the joints apart, cleaned off all the threads and then tried the Weld-On again and again it leaked. I took the parts apart again, cleaned again and tried the Blue Magic sealer and no leaks. Note that no parts were replaced during this process, only the sealant.Fresh from the bottle, the Weld-On is not quite as thick or viscous or seemingly as sticky as is the Blue Magic. The Weld-On does appear to be more grainy in texture, but it does not feel to be on the fingers. After a day on a joint, the Weld-On "dries" to something like a modeling clay consistency. After a day, the Blue Magic "dries" to a more rubbery, viscous plastic texture. The Weld-On product comes with an expiration date. The Blue Magic product has no such expiration.In the end, the Blue Magic just works better for my application.

This stuff is amazing. You can use on PVC, metal, natural gas, water and more. No wait time, it sets once applied. Will never use a different thread compound.
