Terrific Jacket!
Revised 12-12-2017The photos of the M-65 Giant hardly describe the jacket as it is so much more than could be captured by a camera lens. I received it promptly after ordering via Prime & Amazon fulfilled. The quality is about what I'd expect from a German "engineered" product: excellent.I had concerns re the weave of the all cotton shell. I applied Nikwax for cotton garments and it has achieved some reasonable repellency. (I would have preferred that Brandit had woven the jacket with a tight weave blend to achieve water repellency as manufactured. At 5'9" and 190#, I normally wear a size Large. With the fleece liner (not shown in the Amazon photos; refer to my pictures), the jacket is slightly snug, but not so snug that I'd return the jacket for a XL size. Without the liner, it fits comfortably loose. The overall fit on me is very similar to the jacket on the model here on Amazon: sleeves down to the first joint of my fingers and bottom hem just below my crotch. A note re the liner: it keeps me warm while the temp is in the low 30's and, though not worn in temps in the mid to high, 20's, I expect it to keep me warm there, too.Re the "M-65 GIANT" over the right breast pocket and the "Brandit" logo strips over the right with some fancy stitch work, I'm guessing the target consumers are millennials. But, as another reviewer noted, a seam ripper is the simple solution (a solution I applied) if you don't like these added "decorations."If I had to offer anything negative at all, it's that the snaps that close the storm flap are a bit wimpy. The bottom snap unfastens with the slightest stress. I took care of that by replacing it with a much larger snap. Also, maybe some more hook-and-loop on the cuffs as with the cuff 'tightened' as much as it will go, they still fall over my hands. Fixed it by adding some more hook-n-loop and that did the jobA note re Brandit customer service: I was looking all over the US for the jacket in my size in tan without luck. I contacted Brandit in Germany looking for one and to inquire re the weave of the shell. I am pleased to report not only did I get a prompt and kind response, albeit negative to the availability in tan at the time. Seems Brandit grossly underestimated the popularity of that color. I got a >second< email from their customer service today asking whether or not I had received the jacket yet and asking how I liked it. These days, the amount of Good Will that a company buys by investing in good customer service simply cannot be overstated.Bottom line for my comments: If you are trying to decide between an authentic M-65 field jacket and an improved knock-off, IMHO, you won't go wrong with the M-65 Giant despite the price difference.Update Feb 2018.Have some experience now with this jacket's warmth: great mid-weight jacket for temps in the 40-55 deg F range. At 40, esp if the humidity is up, it's on the edge of cool for me.With the substantial fleece liner, it'll easily keep you warm down into the high 20s.Still no regrets making this purchase.Update 3-2020I have since substituted this jacket for a Mil-Spec M-65 who made it with a 65% polyester/35% cotton shell for the SOLE reason that I gained a modicum of water repellancy. Despite my efforts with Nikwax for cotton garments ad other products for the purpose, there seems to be only one way to achieve water repellancy with this jacket: thoroughly apply a generous solution of melted bees wax and a suitable thinner. :-((I truly think Brandit would do well to change the shell of this jacket to a poly/cotton blend else the wearer needs relegating wearing it to when the weather prognosticator doesn't predict any precipitation.

Exactly as expected
I see this as a great jacket moving into fall and winter. Rugged and sized right. I like the fit and quality. Itâs a keeper and will work well for outdoors or even casual dress with a shirt and tie. As for size, I was debating between the XL and L. Iâm glad I went with L since that was the perfect size with liner. If I remove the liner, Iâm sure itâll be fine with just a bit more room. Iâm sure an XL would have resulted in sleeves and general length being too long. Iâm a happy camper with this.[2nd time around] Just a great M65 field coat. Second time around, size L was even better being ever slightly roomier than the first time with the liner installed. I love the broken in softness and it gets lots of compliments. This jacket has weight to it with the liner but itâs very comfortable to wear and perfectly warm in this winter weather. I can wear it with anything from very casual to slightly dressed with a tieâŚit just works. Quality is top notch.

Great jacket and great customer service
Great jacket and great customer service. Took a while to get to me, but communication from the seller was good. It fits a little large and is bulkier than I imagined it, but I love it!

Excellent with no second opinion.
Am 5'10", 42 chest, 19 shoulders, average built, a little tummy.I ordered one Large size and i recieved it through fedex within 3 days.It fits perfect with very good looks and material. If you see its picture on ur mobile phone, its a little more bright but the real color can be seen on ur laptop or desktop ( maybe a little resolution difference). Now the jacket, its a field jacket and for outdoors and it is supposed to be bulky and warm, even though its huge but still looks stylish when worn. I could not find one better than this one in any of the store or mall or anywhere in Houston Texas ,Its a top notch jacket at a good price indeed. Yes its a little lose without inner but if you dont want an inner then u should be buying some other jacket. I wrote all the info with inner onn.

This is a very nice coat.
I really like this coat. I get a lot of compliments on it. I ordered a large but I would normally buy extra large. I thought I'd try the large first as I didn't want it too baggy looking. It fits nicely. The liner is a little tighter but still works well & the two together are extremely warm. The only possible negative issues I'd say are the zipper on the wrong side & the labels on the front are a bit much. Overall I'm very happy wit it.

Nice jacket, even nicer tent.
Very well made Jacket but these things are BIG. I tried the Large and the Medium and I felt like I was swimming in both. I prefer my jackets a little more fitted. If you're looking for a big, sturdy, military style jacket, this is your jam! If you're looking for style and fit, search on.

Well made, great fit. Good for cool weather and cools temps alike.
This jacket is very well-made and quite similar to the BDU jacket I wore in the service. Itâs perfect to throw on without the liner when itâs chilly outside. Throw the liner in and youâre good to go play in the snow. In fact the last time I played in the snow I took the liner out and wore that by itself. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase!

I really liked the jacket-fits true to size and reminds me of ...
I really liked the jacket-fits true to size and reminds me of my old M-65 from active duty days. The reason I give it one star is because it was supposed to come with a liner, and it did not. amazon, of course, cannot be reached by phone to rectify the situation, so i guess I will just use it as a summer/fall jacket. Makes me mad that I paid for the full deal and did not get it.

Zeer snelle levering
Levering was zoals beloofd , binnen 2 dagen .

A great three season, all purpose jacket, well built
I am ex-military and have always enjoyed some of the army issued bush gear I had used when in the military. So I really was looking for a good basic army green military jacket. After much research on line and looking at the jackets in military surplus stores. I decided this one had all the best features in the jacket I wanted. I did not want any camouflage pattern, super tactical jacket. I wanted something that I could wear hiking on a weekend, or to work, or just walking around the city. I do like the two large breast pockets, you could pack a sandwich into each of them! The side pockets behind the lower pockets are great for putting your hands in on a cold day to keep them warm, if you happened to forgot your gloves and are just standing around waiting for the bus. The zip-in liner is very light, with a large thick plastic zipper and you can wear on its own. The main jacket shell has solid brass zipper on, with wind flap that snaps over top of it. The light hood is a nice touch and it stows away in the collar. Very nice functional design. I like the Brandit "name-tags" as they do add to the style of it. I was going to take them off, but then decided to leave them on it. As it clearly shows this is a civilian jacket upon closer inspection. I did remove the light cotton cotton draw strings that came with it, for the waist and lower edge of the jacket. I replaced them with green nylon parachute cord. Which is stronger and not as cheap feeling as the original light cotton ones. They feel like they will fall apart with age. I also sewed on some small green tactical Canadian flags on the shoulders. As I did serve in the Canadian Army..and besides they look good on the jacket đ. I bought the jacket mainly for just the outer shell's style and function. Planning just to wear it in the late spring and during summer and early fall, without the liner. It is actually quite warm enough for wearing it that way now as I did today in mid April that without the liner, wearing a short sleeve shirt under it.. With the liner attached, it is very warm. It is a solid three season, all purpose jacket. I actually prefer this version of a military jacket, as opposed to the Canadian Army Combat Bush Jacket issued to me in the late 70's. When we had a really late winter cold snap here. I found that with wearing just a tee shirt and a light fleece shirt, under the jacket with its liner zipped in, it turned into a solid winter jacket. Very happy overall with the quality of the jacket's materials, the stitching and feel of the jacket. I find it is of quality superior to a lot of the "new faux " military jackets in military surplus stores these days. Also in trying to buy an original (1965 made) M-65 jacket, it would probably result in me getting a pretty worn out item by this time now in 2017!. This is a very nice replica. I also have had people who complimented me on it and were asking me about it. Now the hardest part of the experience of buying this jacket. that would be deciding what size to get for me. With a lot of people saying they had to order a size down. ( or a size up) I basically had to read all the reviews on the USA, UK, and Canadian Amazon websites, to figure out ,what size to order. I have usually have bought extra large in jacket sizes. As I am 6 feet tall and 205 lbs, and a 41" chest. I decided to buy the large. Figuring if it was too tight I could return and get a extra large, or too loose and too long in the arm, I could get a medium. It came fairly quickly from the UK. The Large, with the liner attached does fit me fine. As I said before I can wear a tee shirt and a thin fleece under it and it is still snug and comfortable, though some very slight restriction as a winter jacket. But I would probably would get the Extra Large one if I was weighed over 210 lbs and I definitely would if I was at 230 lbs (my old weight). So I got incentive to watch my weight now! LOL If your used to modern Gortex jackets, this one is going to feel a lot bigger with the liner inside. Its almost feels like wearing an Eskimo parka, with the thickness of the liner and jacket together. It does make you look slightly bigger. But you get used to it, though it make up for it it being a comfortable jacket that keeps you toasty warm. I found that by removing the liner, and wearing a medium or thin fleece under the outer jacket. This made it feel less heavy, more flexible, giving you the best of both worlds of the old and new materials for warmth and lightness. Great for a day out hiking. The draw strings are good to keep the drafts out and for keeping the jacket snug. In wearing just the outer shell for warmer days, it's a relaxed fit on me without the liner. The length of the arms is about a 1/2 " longer then I would like, when the liner is removed, but not really an issue. I will probably be keeping this jacket for a long time. I recommend buying it as it is one of the best cotton army style bush jackets out there.P.S. the picture of me in the jacket is with the liner removed and you can see how the arm sleeves are a little long. With the liner installed they pull up more.update 2018-09-19: I am still enjoying jacket great all year round jacket. No issues with the quality of the materialsUpdate 2021-04-02: been wearing this jacket all 4 season, still enjoying it. I find many people ask about it when they see me wearing it. Its actually outlasted some Helly Hansen hiking jacket I had owned (manufacturing defects)! The cotton jacket material is probably not as thick or as tough as the orginal M-65 jacket. I rate it at 85% of the orginal cloth quality. This shows as my sleeve cuff edges wore through. I repaired by reinforcing the broken cloth edges with needle and thread. Other then that its been washed several times and gets better with age. I could get another 5 years out of it. Still a great all year round jacket. I do use the orginal insulated liner. But 80% of the time I wear it without or a thin or thick synthetic fleece dependingImprovements. On the outer shell others have mentioned it should have an inside inner pocket zippered for walket or passport or phone(to keep it warm) in cold temperatures.Hood could be made a little bigger and a second layer of the same hood cloth or inner insulation layer for head warmth. The existing hood is like having almost nothing in your head to protect you from the elements. Even when you have a winter hat on.
