Build Your Own Blockchain (Management for Professionals)

As an entrepreneur within the DLT space who has ran a VC-backed venture, I found this book to be a refreshingly practical aid in understanding the implementation of blockchain ledgering and the kinds of use cases it enables. Each chapter features a deep-dive by Hellwig et al. into the theoretical underpinnings of blockchain technology (covering concepts such as Merkle Trees and tamper-evidence, how blocks are appended, PoS vs PoW and other methods of achieving consensus, Byzantine Fault Tolerance, cryptocurrencies, etc.). Then each of these chapters features a mini-workshop at the end that provides a detailed set of instructions to the reader on implementing the chapter's content on their own in a development setting. This is done in an extremely user-friendly way where lines of code and their rationale are spelled out for the reader. I've come out of this engaging experience with a "built-from-first-principles" understanding of DLT - something that other books/courses have been unable to do for me. Again, the workshops are in no way daunting and would highly recommend this book for entrepreneurs, financiers, consultants, programmers, and technology-enthusiasts alike. As a former board member of the Harvard Undergraduate Blockchain Group, I will be recommending this to the current board to refine the curriculum of the education tracks used to teach students who join.

This a highly practical guide for anyone interested in exploring building their own blockchain. The authors introduce just the right amount of theory to familiarize the reader with the underlying concepts, yet the mathematics is is accessible to a wide audience. There is a focus on popular applications, such as smart contracts and asset tracking, yet leave the door open for unforeseen developments as well.I strongly recommend this book as a first introduction for anyone looking to innovate with blockchains.

A rejuvenating and practical exploration of DLT and its underpinnings! “Build Your Own Blockchain” beautifully synthesizes theoretical concepts with detailed exercises to allow the reader to internalize and apply fundamentals gleaned through the reading. I found these exercises to be extremely user-friendly. Even the most non-technical reader should be able to partake in these practical workshops, presenting a grounded and refreshing change from the foundation-less noise that unfortunately often pollutes the space. Overall, I cannot think of a better medium for people from all backgrounds to get a pulse on DLT, than this publication that Hellwig et al. have crafted

A powerful book on creating a cryptocurrency. This book is definitely cutting edge especially if you want to create a powerful Python project. Even though, my book was packed some what crushed; I still love the powerful content…a true must read for advanced Python lovers!!!

This is the first book on this subject that I read. I didnt know anything so far about Blockhain and what it actually means. In addition to the technical explanations, it is written understandable and it is easy to read. After this book anybody will understand that blockchain is a milestone in its field and is crossing borders into a completely new age. I can recommend this book to anyone. It is an absolut must have !
