French Angora Yarn (889 Fuschia)

This is a much thicker strand than Plymouth Yarn angora. Seems sturdier as well (not as easily broken). Anyone have any suggestions on what type of cast on to use with this for a baby hat? I made a hat using Plymouth Yarn angora with a german twist cast on and the cast on was not elastic at all. Not sure if it was me or how angora knits up. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! I am a moderate knitter (consistent, but always needs to follow a pattern).
