Superpower choice of crime short story collection.
Steph Cha and Alafair Burke have done a superlative job of choosing the stories in this collection. With very few exceptions, I liked them all. In my opinion, this is the best book in the series. Expanding coverage of both the subject coverage and sources were good decisions.

Seems good if I could read it
The font size in this book is pretty small and makes it difficult to read.

Excellent and varied acollection
I enjoyed the stories and the variety. Some make you think, while others were comedic or had a twist at the end. This is a great series, and the various editors do a great job. I shall be reading more.

Hit and Miss
I'm a sucker for stories about the Mafia and the "The Last Hit" about an aging hit man turned out to be my favorite in the 2020 series of American mysteries. "The Girl with the Ax" locked me in from the first sentence and did not disappoint. "What Ever Happened to Lorna Winters" was predictable but the characters and the setting were a pleasant change from the usual lowlifes. "Pretzel Logic" was the one miss for me. Confusing plot. All and all, a good variety.
