Rough finish causes ring to catch on shank.
Purchased in April 2017 and after using for a season find it just okay. The galvanizing on the anchor is NOT as smooth as the photo shows. In fact, the ring catches on the shank due to the lumpy surface defeating the purpose of the sliding ring. Although this anchor is only being used on a pontoon it still needs to be able to grab and then release. The ring slide allows you to pull the anchor loose when firmly anchored when you are ready to leave. I thought it would smooth out slightly after use but no. I see that the anchor has increased 25% in price since my purchase maybe they corrected the finish problems. Note: My anchor is used in conjunction with a 6-foot chain (weighing as much as the anchor) attached between it and the anchor line. The anchor is set by dragging it with the boat until it firmly grabs. Hence, the need for the ring slide to operate smoothly to get it to release.

When using this anchor style use a chain like the Greenfield 2116
I gave three stars because of the low cost or it would only be 2 stars! Stamped 8lbs but weights maybe 4-5lbs hence the 6lbs shipping weight with packaging. Too light weight so it doesn't always hold well. May hold light 16-18 ft boats but not a heavy 19'. Next time I'll try a Chene CH-35, note do not use a chain with a Chene. When using this anchor style use a chain like the Greenfield 2116, it will help a lot for getting the anchor to bite. The 2114 chain is too light but works. The PVC coated chain causes it to stay straight and help set the anchor. Non-coated can bunch up or fall to the wrond end and be ineffective; stick with the PVC coated chain.

Well-Made, Solid and Works As Advertised.
The thing about an anchor is that you don't really think much about it....until you need it. And when you need one, you really need one that works. That's what this anchor does -- work. I have a 19.5" bowrider, and this season has been a windy one on the lake where we do our boating. My old anchor had seen a lot of seasons and had come with the boat when I bought it. It was okay, but I noticed that any decent wind would cause it to drag. I replaced it with this Seasense anchor and immediately saw improvement -- no more dragging. The slipring is also stout, a bonus for when the anchor catches a stump or a rock. The blades are stout too...no bends or dings all summer.

Can't beat the price!
If this is the size/weight anchor you need, you really can't go wrong. Not to mention, you will probably pay double if not more at a marine shop or anywhere else. Used this all season for my 21' bow rider and it hasn't let me down yet. Used it in as little as 6' of water up to about 40' of water and it has always kept the boat in place.

IT GRABS and HOLDS! Great Anchor at a Great Price!
Excellent anchor, and the price is fantastic! I was having problems with my current slip ring anchor (Slightly smaller than this one) and it would not catch well. We mostly have mud bottom, or rocky bottom. After buying this anchor I no longer am having that issue and am able to grab the bottom much easier. I have had multiple boats tied up to mine with only this anchor holding and its done a great job. Highly recommended and the price can't be beat with Prime shipping.

Excellent anchor for the price (small boat)
For this price, I didn't expect nearly as high a quality as I found the anchor to be. Coupled with a meager 4 ft light chain, this anchor held my 18 ft bowrider in place while anchored off a beach, above very soft muddy sand and in a decent current, with no slippage whatsoever. This was using 3:1 rode to depth. In addition to holding well, when it came time to take up this anchor pulled right out with ease (just make sure you are directly above it).

WORTHLESS, WILL NOT HOLD NOTHING!
First of all, the stock angle is too small to hold anything in any conditions. You have to BEND IT so it can open at least 45 degrees. Stock angle is like 25 deg. Now, with the new angle, if you can GET IT TO BITE, it will hold with ZERO SLIP.But here is the problem: IT KEEPS SLIPPING AND SLIPPING AND SLIPPING AND DOESNT WANT TO BITE IN AND DOWN. I am trying to fish a particular point with this piece of ...something.. by the time if finally bites in, i am 400 feet from my point. I don't have that kind of time to mess with that crap. I need it to bite in immediately! This WILL NOT BITE IMMEDIATELY. I don't care what conditions you fish, you will slip quite some ways before it grabs. I am ANGRY at the other reviewers. I gave this a good effort, time after time, didn't give up easy. No. Lake, river, - doesn't matter, it slips too much before it grabs. Not to mention the small opening as stock. I wish I could return, but it is too late. Or is it? Can vendor contact me?

Good anchor for the money
I have used it about a dozen times and it works great. Usually grabs pretty quickly. I have used it as a rear anchor on boats as big as 28 feet.My only complaint is that the flukes are not solid and they bent. I was able to bend them back. Still think it is a good anchor for the money.

For light use only
Will not hold our 17 foot boat in place on our lake, may work well in other lakes that have rocky bottoms or for a lot smaller boat.
