Fat-quarter Quilting: Twenty-one Terrific 16" X 20" Projects (That Patchwork Place)

Didn't find the pattern that I was looking for, but books are never wasted

Lori Smith has done it again with her book of 21 small (all 16" x 20") quilts. The book is basically divided into 3 chapters: 8 quilts that are constructed with only piecing techniques, 8 quilts constructed with piecing and applique, and 5 quilts that strongly feature applique. Our miniature quilt group chose this book to work through for the year. The quilts presented are a nice mix of traditional and modern, using all types of fabrics including batik, 30s, and repros. This book is not for the beginner, there is plenty here to challenge the intermediate and seasoned quilter. Lori has a wonderful color sense as well; all her quilts are a delight to see! If you are going to work through this book as we are, I suggest you take it to your office supply store and for $5.00 they will put a lay-flat spiral binding on it.

I really enjoyed this quilting book. Like many quilters, I buy books only to a project or 2, but I think I will do several from this book. I work in a cubicle, and was wanting to do some little "cube quilts", and this fits the bill. 16x20 inches is just perfect. I would recommend it to other quilters!

I just realized that the fifth star in your rating says "I love it!" I usually "like" purchases I have made but don't in most cases "love" them. However, I have wanted this book for some time and now it is mine. The book is in excellent shape and arrived when indicated.

This book is exactly as I hoped it would be. Beautiful designs, lots of applique and fabrics used are current so I have many already in my fabric stash. I have started the wall hanging on the cover and am loving it!! My 9-year-old grand daughter wants to sew the little dresden plate. I like most projects in this book of small quilt patterns.Many books only have 1-2 projects I like. Clear instructions. I like Lori Smith's designs. Great price on Amazon, was list price at quilt shop locally.

I absolutely love this book! I've already made one quilt from it and plan to make several more..actually...I know I'll make many, many more! I love Lori's designs having already made a couple of her larger quilts...and these are wonderful because you can finish them quickly. Lori's designs work well with all types of fabrics from traditional as shown to more modern fabrics.

Working within a guideline of only using fat-quarters & a finished size made the patterns very easy to finish. Also, a very good selection of patterns.
