I found this book by happenstance as I was researching the education opportunities for Syrian refugee children in Jordan. I am interested in the topic for two reasons: first, because I will be moving to Jordan this year to join in the effort to assist Syrian refugees as an education consultant; second, because I am a firm believer in education as a human right and the global responsibility to defend and support refugees' access to quality education. With a focus on Syria's neighboring countries, this text gives a well-organized analysis on the current situation of the education of the refugee children in Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan. The author also offers suggestions for steps forward to improve those factors that have made obtaining quality education a challenge in many cases. The text blends exposition and visual graphics well, and the style is straightforward and uncomplicated. Also, for such a succinct text, there is a surprising amount of information. An objective and balanced explanation of both the positives and negatives, this book has been both enjoyable and beneficial to read.
