I follow her youtube channel and found myself reading this with her voice in my head. A revealing but respectful account of life for her and her family under the control of an abusive narcissistic mother, and how she made her peace with the upbringing forced upon her.

Very interesting, engaging non-fiction book by one of my favourite authors. I thought my command of the English language was pretty good, but Lady C is in another league! I have to admit to learning (at 75 years of age) the meaning of words I’d previously never heard of! Excellent job Lady C. 👏🏼👏🏼

I think the author is too repetitive in her analysis of her mother's behaviour and her exploration of her personality and character. It is as if she uses the biography as a means of convincing herself that she has always been dealt a bad hand from an unscrupulous and unloving parent. Not once does she admit there could have been faults on both sides.

If you want to know how a narcissist operates please read this book, you won’t be disappointed.

An intriguingly interesting read, covering the horrors of living wirh a sociopath with a good smattering of colonial history within the social classes. This book is particularly well written and stays with you long after the book has ended. It covers the social taboo of personality disorders and the effects on the family articulatly and with clear accuratcy.I would highly recommend this read.

A highly readable book. I have admired the author for many years and this is a book I would recommend without hesitation to anyone who is interested in the struggles other people have to overcome. Thank you Lady Colin for writing it.

Brilliant book.

Like all the books written by Lady Colin Campbell, it is very well written.I find it very hard to put the book down because it is extremely interesting.

I highly recommend this book. If you have ever wanted to understand the inner workings of a disturbed mind and it’s damaging affects on families this is the book for you. A terrific read.
