I bought this opener just over a year ago after reading loads of reviews and determined this was worth the then $29.99 price. I was so happy with it for quite a while. I don't use a lot of canned goods so it is not a heavily used item (an average of maybe 3 cans a week). A few weeks ago it would not open a can, no matter how many times it went around the can. At first it would take a couple of trips around the can to open it but now after at least five, the can was not even close to being open. I had to get out my standby, the good old Swing-Away manual opener, to open the 5 cans to make my chili. The blade seems to be dulled beyond functionality but I knew it was just within the warranty and called today. The manufacturer is apparently a small, VERY small, company and there is one person to talk to about the issue. She was out so I tried again and she was coming in so I waited a couple of minutes and she came on the phone and was beyond rude and told me to contact Amazon and then hung up. Now she is claiming I am harassing her because I am calling the number on the warranty when she won't even listen to me. All I get it that it is a wrong number. Good luck if you have any issues!

There's a knack to using it correctly that isn't totally clear from the instructions but once you get it the opener works very well. What I like is that you can have it opening a can while you're doing something else. For a typical can size it can take 20-30 seconds so it's multi-tasking. The trick to using it is to put it on flat with the can edge in between blade and roller, then angle the other side (the non blade side) up till you feel resistance. Then press the button and keep the opener in the same position until it starts to move along the can.Note, the lid will usually not appear to be separated or come off but it does get cleanly separated. Press the button to stop the opener and remove. Then lift up the can lip and the lid pops right off. Works very well. I don't know what the longevity for a tool like this is but it works great.

Bought at the spouse's request, had to return the first one. This one works okay but is difficult to get right on the can. Works for large cans only. Frankly, I'd rather use the one you hand crank.

I had a similar electric can opener that i liked when i first bought it, but it didnt last more than a week. Traditional can openers always seemed to end up bent or not sharp enough in my home and the sharp lids always seemed to find their way into my pet's mouths. Needless to say, i have been searching for another electric one. I have not had this one for very long, but I can already tell it is much more sturdy than the last. I enjoyed the selection of colors to choose from and it came pretty soon after I ordered it. A good buy and very highly recommended!
