Durable and functional ... can't ask for more
Of all the spring loaded retrievers on the market I like these the most. The entire extension systems just seems to be more durable (perhaps a tad heavier) than others. Other similar products seem to either bend easily or come apart (extend one too many times and your left with 2 pieces that will never go back together).

Cheap plastic breaks easy. Plus when fully extended it is hard to put enough pressure to get the spring to release and capture the ball.

This retriever works well, but is not very sturdy. One of the plastic swivels broke off in my golf bag almost as soon as I got it, rendering it useless. I glued in a metal swivel and I am back in service. Needs to be handled a little too gently for my taste.

Works well except when a weak part fails.
This device is pretty well designed in terms of its ability to extend, lock, and retrieve a ball. But as others have said, the rotating orange ring that snatches the golf ball is made of very cheap plastic that breaks at the points of attachment during normal usage, and this has happened to me a second time after I purchased and installed a second such part. It's really dumb to have a basically good design with such a critical component that could be made acceptably durable at very little additional cost.
