Red Glass Ant Moat for Hummingbird Feeder

I put out sugar water (4:1) for the hummingbirds in my backyard. In the past, ants would immediately find the sweet mixture and attack. Some inevitably would end up drowning the the bowl and fowl it so that the hummingbirds would stay away.This ant moat works flawlessly and looks beautiful besides. I heartedly recommend it.A note: the two metal hooks when screwed together can be slid up or down inside the rubber grommet at the bottom of the glass cup so that there is sufficient gap between the top hook and the rim of the glass so that the ants cannot span the gap.

The shank of the hook is too close to the outside edge of the glass and the ants use the rod to climb onto the edge of the glass and then get to the hummingbird feeder. The glass container needs to be much wider so they can't reach over and get onto the glass container!Would not buy again!

Bought it to replace my homemade bottle-on-a-hanger ant mote. I love the stained glass. The glass seems thick and sturdy. The kit came with no instructions, but the male hook had to go through the bottom of the jar and push into the glass. The two hooks connect inside the jar (about half way to get appropriate hook length on both sides), and the twist screw would sit in the water. This just has me worried with rusting and integrity. I'm hopeful though.

We like the glass ant moat but I assumed it was red glass, not merely glass painted red.... After only a couple of weeks the red coloring is fading badly. Otherwise, we love this moat and it works well!!

I researched all these products before deciding on this one and couldn't wait to start using it as the ants know where my feeder is - but following their directions, the top hook BARELY sticks above the cup! There's no way I'll be able to reach up between my deck ceiling and the lip to pour fresh water in! It shows even lengths above and below and that's what I expect to receive! This is on the manufacturer, not Amazon. I will probably just turn the rubber grommet over and maybe add some of my RV sealant or something, but I'm not happy about not getting what I ordered.But that's not new today, I guess? *sigh*

Keeps the ants away. My hummingbird feeder has been ant free since I installed it. Just be sure to fill the water reservoir every day during the hot summer.

I had a ton of ants invading my hummingbird feeder. When I researched how to prevent the ant invasion, I discovered I could get an ant moat. I found this beauty on Amazon and thought I would give it a try. Wow! This works 100%! I watched a customer video on Amazon and got the idea from there to use a tie with the bracket holding the feeder to my deck (the bracket is thicker than the top loop of the moat). I'm telling you, there are no more ants at all near my feeder. I watched them march down the top loop of the moat and turn back around and march back up. A few risked it all for the nectar but drowned in the cup. You need this if you have a hummingbird feeder! It comes from China and takes forever to ship, but it's beautiful and works!

The media could not be loaded.  I've battled ants all season this year (we get lots of hummingbirds). Finally pulled the trigger on these and couldn't be happier. Not a single ant since putting them in place. They look nice too. Don't know how they will hold up over time but they definitely stopped the ants in their tracks.
