Q: This stuff looks like frog lube and seal one. Do you have to heat up the metal with this before using?

Nope. Lube and go. My understanding of the heating process is it is used to open the pores of the metal so the lube penetrates the metal but I don't ever do it. I just clean and keep lubed regularly.

Q: What is the temp rating

Their site states -50°f but do not list a high temp limit. Just says "hottest desert environments"

Q: I've used this to good effect on my wheelguns. but how does it work on a cap-and-ball revolver with pyrodex fouling?

Have no idea, if it works on pyrodex fouling. Why not give Grizzly grease a try! Or just continue cleaning with soap and warm water.

Q: Can I use this on my bike chain?

NO. Bicycle chains are roller chains. That means the silver roller you see on the inside of the chain, actually rides on the pin/rivet that holds the chain links together. The most critical area needing lubrication is between the roller and the pin. Only use a free-flowing lube like synthetic oil to lube each roller. If you have ever heard the expression "chain stretch", it refers to the area between the inside of the roller and the pin. If not lubed properly, the 2 surfaces wear causing each roller and pin to have too much play. This in turn, places each roller further away from each other. USE AN OIL TO LUBE A CHAIN, NOT GREASE!
