Works Fine but not very practical
This device works as advertised but is not really practical. If you're travelling with your laptop by the time you dig this out and plug it in you could already be signed in. Yes it works as a password manager but depending on where the USB ports are located on your more machine it may take more effort to swipe you finger than just type in a password. The MacBook Pro is a prime example of this, the USB ports are located on the left side of the machine and if you are right handed normally you would swipe the fingerprint sensor with your right index finger - it takes more time to do this than just typing in your password. So while the product works fine and does what it advertises it does not seem all that practical.

1 star for MAC, one star for To Go- Buy the USB cable version
As others have stated, the Mac software is only good for login. 99% of the utility of this device is to not have to remember passwords. Passwords for websites, networks, etc. None of that is possible on a mac, and although UPEK says they are partnering with lastpass to bring support to the MAC, I can't find any evidence of this on lastpass's site and it certainly isn't imminent. Having said all that, it works perfectly at logging you into your mac. It is just a terrific shame it doesn't do anything else. One password down. Most of my problem with this device, the to-go version, is that it sticks out of the USB port like a flash drive. But it is definitely less robust than a flash drive. You can easily destroy your USB port by accidentally swiping anything sticking out of it, like a flash drive, but in this case you will likely also destroy the UPEK. Buy the usb cable version. the cable is short, it allows you to place the scanner in some place that if you are on a PC and have reason to use it frequently will be reasonably accessible. And it is much less likely to get tweaked out of the USB port. It is certainly no less portable than this to-go version. If this is sticking off the back of your laptop, imagine having to reach around positioning your finger 90 degrees to the scanner every time you want to log into a web site that requires a password.

Caused all kinds of issues with my Dell XPS - Windows 7 laptop
I have a 6 month old Dell Studio XPS laptop running windows 7. When I first installed the software, my computer would not properly start up for about 5 attempts. I had to continue to re-attempt until eventually it started up. From then it would properly start about 50% of the time. About half of the time it started successfully the wireless card would not work correctly and the system needed to be rebooted. I tried the Dell support line, and they were unable to fix the issue. I did not even attempt to use the password functionality as I couldnt get my computer correctly and was worried more issues would come trying to actually use it. I've tried different system and registry repair software, updated drivers, uninstalled the Eikon software, but still could not get my computer to work as expected 100% of the time, so I had to restore it to the original factory settings. I had to just give up on this product. My guess is something in the Eikon software installed or overwrote something that was not compatible with Windows 7. I do not recommend trying to use this with Windows 7 after my experience.

Makes securing and accessing your computer safe and simple
My previous laptop had a built in fingerprint sensor, I became spoiled by the ease and security of just swiping my finger to log on. This product uses the same software that my laptop had, and I believe it's used by many computer manufacturers using fingerprint readers. My current laptop a Toshiba Qosmio has face recognition that only works in bright light, even then it takes at least 10 sec. to "recognize" me. I gave up on it, too many bugs. This reader plugs right into a USB port. When not in use, the connector plug recesses with the cover that protects the sensor, so it's extremely portable. The one thing I've found, is I need to be careful with it sticking out of the USB port, I could see it being damaged if a heavy object were placed on the end of the reader with nothing under to support it, but the same is true with a flash drive.I wish my laptop had a built in reader, or that the Toshiba's "new" technology worked properly, but this is an excellent substitute.I've been using it for a couple of months now and haven't had any problems.

Outstanding software, substandard hardware
Most annoying online problem: creating user names and passwords complex enough to keep you safe yet trying to remember them all and typing them in correctly using case sensitive letters, numbers and characters. Dream-come-true solution: your fingerprint! Clever, intuitive, very well-designed software enables you to easily register your fingerprints, then use your finger to log onto your websites with one touch. I'd been using a Microsoft Fingerprint Reader for years, but with the upgrade to Windows7, I needed to switch to Eikon. Instead of touching the device, you have to swipe your finger past the sensor area. This results in more errors than successes. Sometimes after five failures, it locks you out. Sometimes, you have to wet your finger to make it work. Sometimes you have to hold it with your other hand. It never works when plugged directly into the USB slot. It comes with a very short USB extension cord which makes it even harder to use. I use a longer extension cord to keep the device flat on the desk next to the mouse, reducing my errors to only three. I love the foolproof secure software, and someday I'll get the hang of the hardware. Your fingers may be younger and softer than mine, and it may work flawlessly for you.

Great security
Great security for you desk top or your lap top we had several people try to get on the computer with their finger print and they couldn't only me and that is great in my business as I am a movie director so we have allot of sensitive info on our computers. I'm just waiting for them to come out with the mac software. For now just blocking people from having access to my compter is good.
