Maui Rippers Women’s 5" 4-Way Stretch Swim Shorts Boardshorts

I love the length and how flattering they are. Excellent quality. I'm 54 years old, 5'9", 128 lbs. I did not want a skirt for a swim suit! I chose these and crossed my fingers. IT WORKED! They are exactly what I had hoped they'd be and I feel confident in them. Will buy a few more!

I love, love, love these swim shorts. Perfect length that you won't feel exposed but you won't feel like you're wearing a blanket either. The material isn't thick and dries quickly. I'm purchasing in another color asap!

I bought two pairs in different colors and have worn both multiple times while hanging around the house or working in the yard. The fit is good and they’re true to size. They have just enough stretch and are generally comfortable.I wore the black pair swimming to give me a little more coverage than a swimsuit- they didn’t fade from the chlorine and they dried quickly.The only drawbacks I have is that I wish they had a model with a built in liner. I ended up wearing these over a swimsuit bottom because wearing them with nothing underneath wouldn’t have been comfortable and swimming in underwear would have been weird. I also dislike the Velcro/tie closure. It’s not terrible it’s just annoying to have to undo all or it if you go to the bathroom. A simple zip/button closure would’ve been better IMO, but for the general intended use of being board shorts that might not work.

These shorts suffer from what many brands suffer from when designing for larger sizes. Instead of creating unique measurements for each size, they simply scaled up the pattern from the small sizes for the larger sizes. This results in the larger sizes fitting awkwardly. That all being said, if it fits your shape, then awesome. I ordered my size and one size up to try them both on. These sit on the high hip, not at- or even close to my waist (I am high-waisted) so I needed the size up to avoid that awful muffin-top look. In order to fit my waist, they are very loose around my actual hips and legs. There is no wiggle-room in the waistband of these trunks except to maybe cinch them 1/2"-3/4" tighter. There is no stretch in the waist. The larger sizes of these trunks would be perfect for people with a smaller/lower waist and larger hips/thighs. You should be able to order your natural size if you have that body shape.The material is similar to mens trunks and that is what I was looking for. Most swim shorts for women are still made out of swimsuit material and I didn't want that, though I do not understand why they don't put a mesh liner like they do with men's trunks. You really aren't in any danger of anything being seen because the legs aren't too short, but it would be more inclusive to craft them just like men's trunks.I kept these because they are comfortable and were made of men's swim trunk material. They are not flattering in larger sizes but that is not what I was going for. I wanted something in which I didn't feel awkward sitting in the shallow end with a toddler or chasing them around a pool. The material also dries quickly so there would be no need to change right away after swimming.

If I could give these swim trunks 10 stars I would! Best ever superb fitting Maui Ripper swim trunks I have purchased. Excellent stretch and fit. I have other MR swim shorts but nowhere near the stretch. These are stretchy in both waistband and fabric. Super cute design. I bought the black with pointed flower design. These will be 100% going with me to Mexico next month. Could not be happier. 170 lbs, size XL.

I agonized over buying these shorts vs. others. I read all of the reviews and in the end I purchased two sizes. My pants size is a 12 so I ordered a 12 and a 14 just in case. I'm exchanging the 14 for a 12. The material is lightweight and the shorts seem well made. They look good. I gained a lot of weight this year after a divorce and I was not feeling good about putting a bathingsuit on. I decided to wear these with a rash guard or a tankini top. I am 5'5" with muscular legs and thick knees lol. I was worried they would be snug in the legs and they are not. These shorts are the perfect length. Not too short but not frumpy. I am not super curvy so my rear and waist are proportionate to the rest of my body. I'd say average body shape. They sit below the belly button making them very comfortable. I could get away with the 14 if I planned on staying this size. They don't look bad. My boyfriend said they were cute and liked them until I put on the 12 and then he said actually, those fit better. It depends if you like to have a little extra room or not. I think they fit true to size. There's a little give in the material but not so much that they feel like they will stretch out.

I purchased these board shorts for a recent beach trip (with excursions) and they worked great! I tried four different pairs of board shorts in different brands before the trip, and these were the most comfortable and had the best fit—and they were the best price too! I like that they have both a Velcro fly and a tie string to secure the front. They were comfortable for walking, swimming, riding an ATV, and in various harnesses on a zip-line course. The also have a small Velcro side pocket which was useful. They seem high quality so far! Also, I’m tall (5’10”) and these were a perfect length on me—not too short. Very happy with this purchase.
