Beecher 8x28 Mirage Binoculars

After pouring over various reviews and sites, I purchased these binoculars for my 89-year-old father who suffers from macular degeneration in both eyes. He has been using regular binoculars to watch television and requested a higher power pair. I was looking for something that would provide the power and be more comfortable. After receiving them, my father reported that he could only see a narrow tunnel through the glasses. We tried to talk him and his neighbor through adjusting them to see if we could make them work. In the meantime, my brother was headed to visit my father in rural northern Montana and we armed with him instructions. Unfortunately, no adjustments could make the glasses work. My brother brought them back and we arranged to get them back. When I opened the box I was appalled at the poor, cheap quality of the product. There was moleskin handcut on the nose piece to try to make it comfortable and the arms were flimsy and cheap. Unbelievable for $500!!! I went online to return I was informed it was now past the 30 days return window. When I called to explain the situation and how we did our best to ensure they wouldn't work before returning them I was told that the policy was not flexible. I asked for a supervisor and was told no one was available. I asked to be called back. No one ever called. Poor product (cheap, advertised for macular degeneration and doesn't work for people with this problem) and poor service. All around bad experience and I would recommend avoiding the binoculars and the company.
