The Forgotten Recipe (An Amish Heirloom Book 1)
Telling herself she will never love again after the death of her fiancé, Seth, Veronica Fisher finds relief from her grief by baking her grandmother's raspberry pies. When friends and family encourage her to sell her pies, Veronica opens a bake stand by the road at her house.Feeling responsible for Seth's death, Jason Huyard wants to visit Veronica to offer his condolences and be sure she is okay. Jason's mother hears of the stand and sends him to buy a pie. Discovering that it is Veronica, Jason returns each week to buy another pie.The Forgotten Recipe is my first book by Amy Clipston. I liked this contemporary romance about loss and second chances. I also enjoyed learning more about Amish life.I purchased a Kindle copy of this book.

Things Left Hanging in Epilogue
Veronica Fisher is deeply grieving after losing her fiancé when he fell from the roof of the shed he was building. Nothing begins to ease the pain until she finds her grandmothers old recipe for raspberry pies, which mushrooms into a business.Jason Huyard loses his best friend when Seth falls from the shed they were working on and dies. He feels responsible since he had walked away to get water. When he sees Seth’s fiancée sobbing at the wake, he wants to comfort her and ask her forgiveness, but this is not the time. He’ll go to her house later and let her know how sorry he is. He’s wondering how to find where she lives, when his mom sends him and his brother to buy raspberry pies, and finds Veronica running the booth. Jason is so stunned, he can hardly find his voice, much less tell her he knew Seth. However, the longer he puts it off and grows closer to Veronica, the harder telling her the whole truth becomes. As he falls in love with her and her feelings for him grow slowly, what will happen when the truth comes out?The modern conveniences threw me in this novel. All the Amish families have telephones, and Jason wished he had a camera with him to take a picture of his girlfriend at one point. The author’s disclaimer didn’t lessen my skepticism. I found Veronica way too self-centered most of the time. The ending was good until I read the epilogue. It was just a cliffhanger and tease to make the reader want to see what unfolds in the next novel, but it did the opposite for me. I expected better from this author and publisher.

Two hearts brought together by a forgotten recipe!
Loved this first book in An Amish Heirloom Series by Amy Clipston! This story is set around two main characters Veronica Fisher and Jason Huyard. While at first they really don't even know each other, they are connected by a special bond they both share to someone they both lost, Seth Lapp.Veronica and Seth were engaged to be married, when an accident on the job takes Seth from this life. She is consumed with grief and the loss of love she feels she will never be able to have again. She does pretty much anything to try to keep busy to keep her mind occupied every day, just to make it through each day. One day, while cleaning the attic, she comes across an old chest and finds a recipe for her Mammi's (grandmother's) blackberry pie. She decides this could be a perfect new distraction for her, as she is running out of other things to do. She sets up a roadside stand and sells her delicious pies.Jason Huyard, is flooded with guilt and grief over the passing of his friend Seth Lapp. While he misses his best friend, he also feels guilt over the accident that happened on the job site where he and Seth had been working that day. Jason feels drawn to Veronica the first time he sees her after Seth's death, and seeks out to find her. Not realizing he would soon find her at a roadside back stand selling the best blackberry pies he'd ever tasted. As they meet and their relationship begins to blossom, Jason never says a word about knowing Seth, much less that he was his best friend and was there when he died. Jason knows his secret of knowing Seth needs to be told, but has no idea how to tell it without losing Veronica. Will Jason tell Veronica? Will his secret tear them apart? This book was a great read as all of Amy Clipstons' books are! Loved the way she left a little cliffhanger at the end that had me grabbing book 2 immediately! Great story line and well described characters! Also love the Amish glossary at the beginning of the book to help decipher any words you are not accustomed to in the Pennsylvania Dutch language.

Wonderful story
The story had a mix of happiness and grief and found a way for the characters to overcome through faith.
