Good reference book. Slim on work by individual artist, but excellent to expose you to a large number of photographers

I collect ABC books, so this was a great addition. Was particularly pleased that each letter entry was not limited to one photographer, so this is actually a very comprehensive overview. A great introduction and launchpad to to find out more about photographers that I hadn’t known about. This is not a coffee table book, but it is a great resource. Would have liked an index or at least some kind or listing of all the photographers included.

I loved his first book - Lexicon of Photographers - and this is a wonderful addition

Really good book. Photograpy samples of the best photographers of the 20th century. I really like it!

It is a good compilation of photographers in the XXth Century.

Despite specifying—twice- that I chose the larger format, the smaller format , which is so tiny as to be worthless, came. Twice!I give up!

I was looking forward to this book but was disappointed that the images are too small to fully appreciate - some are the size of postage stamps. The print is brief and the font size is small as well. I would have paid more for the book if the pages were bigger.

Study photography

A great book to have not so much to read from cover to cover but to dip into or to check for background on some less familiar names in photography.

Very brief mention of the photographers of the past and their work. Very well printed, I wish the images were little bigger and some more informations about the photographers and their works would have made the book even more attractive. The size of the book is very small. But an interesting book to browse in an easy compact size.

Great overview of photographers. A great way to explore old favorites and make some new ones on the way.
