Glacier Glove Islamorada 50+ Sun Protection Durable Lightweight Breathable Quick-Dry Fingerless Outdoor Fishing Sun Glove

I wanted another pair of sungloves made by Outdoor Research. They have a higher price tag and were out of stock at the time. I settled for the Glacier Glove and I do not regret doing so. I bought these for a backpacking trip into the Ansel Adams Wilderness for a week. I do not like wearing sun screen and prefer to just "cover up" to protect myself from the sun. I tend to burn on my hands so I was in the market for a lightweight breathable pair of gloves.As many have said they are light weight and breath well. I like have the extra leather on key contact points on the palm. It gives extra stability to the wear and tear most of my past gloves receive. Hiking with trekking poles around 13 miles a day, these things did start to warm up. However, once a little sweat was on them they were great on keeping my hands cool and dry. They survived a week on the trail too. I highly recommend them.The only thing I saw as a potential negative, which it is not really the gloves fault no worth taking off a star, is DO NOT bring these things in contact with Velcro. I had my camera in my hiking pants with a Velcro cargo pocket. Reaching into my pocket the material would catch and "fray" lightly on the Velcro. I ended up taking extra precaution to when getting my camera back out. I would imagine the same would happen if these gloves came into contact with similar material to Velcro.

I like these gloves and will compare them to the only other caparison I have for them, the Outdoor Research brand that are a similar style. These have a slightly thicker material. They have small leather sections on the palm, where the OR gloves have rubber dots. The fingers come down further than the OR gloves and the wrists extend higher up your arm as well. So overall there is better coverage for the GG glove than the OR glove.The features that I don't like compared to the OR glove are that they feel less breathable. When I drive with these on they are slightly annoying compared to the more breathable OR glove. My last gripe is the fit. I found them a little tight.

Update: I still use these gloves constantly and I'm on my third pair - not because they wear out but because I'm great at losing things! I wear them when running, hiking, driving, or doing field work.I bought these to use for field work in low elevation desert (saguaro and 110 + degree days). The work I do isn't usually super physical, just setting up equipment and sitting around while it takes measurements. Usually after my field season is over my hands are coarser in texture, have more age spots, and can't get enough moisture, despite the fact that I wear sunscreen. Now though, I put a good moisturizer on before I put the gloves on and at the end of the day when I take them off, my hands look better than they did before.The gloves also fit me perfectly and let me manipulate all the dials and doodads and carry fragile expensive things around without any loss of grip or dexterity. They also have held up pretty well - they get filthy but they come clean in the wash very well and seem to be holding up great so far (two field trips and some daily use).I would absolutely buy these again.

I was a fan of the Columbia Coolhead fingerless gloves until I found these on Amazon. I am not a fan of buying items online that I cannot try on first but I took my chance, these gloves are a perfect fit! I couldn't believe how fast they dry (even while wearing them), they are built well and are extremely comfortable on the hands.

I have had several pairs of fishing gloves. These land somewhere in the middle.The Pros:The fit was dead on based on suggested measuring. After 2 full days on rowing and fishing the sun coverage was excellent as well. The higher covering area above the wrist is good as well.The Cons:The material can be a little cumbersome at times. Tying knots and such proved difficult. Also, if they were truly a fly fishing glove (which I know they are not) I would like the index and middle fingers to extend further for line stripping. Lastly, and I am wondering if I am alone here, but the smell after they got wet was pretty rough. I realized my hands were sweaty and handling fish, but this smell was something else, and it stuck to my hands even after several hard washings. I have even run the gloves through a cycle in the washer and they still are quite foul. None of my gloves in the past have ever smelled like this. My trusty gloves of 3 years previous to these are done, and I hoped these would replace them... but they may end up tossed or returned.

I am sun-sensitive, so have used a lot of fishing gloves. These are the best of the bunch. The sun protection seems excellent, and they are cool in use. Long cuffs, easy on/easy off, rugged material, and don't degrade your grip while fishing. The sizes are not funky either... just order your usual glove size without worries. Highly recommended!

Best fishing gloves I have found. Can't say much yet about durability, but they seem very well made. The fingers are long enough to prevent a monofilament leader from cutting your finger, and the pads on the pals are well placed for a day of casting and working a fishing rod. I bought one pair to test, will definitely buy more.

These seem to be made for a man, these are really bulky and uncomfortable. I Bought ones that I love by the same company but difficult to drive in them because there is no grip, so I got these. Not the same, too bad. These are rated as "warm" on the tag, not meant for summer. The fingers are long as you see in the picture, one of those things that you don't seem to think about until they are on your hand and it is uncomfortable. Should have returned them.

I bought these to use on my 4000km hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. I hadn't heard of this brand or product before and took a risk on trying this. The risk paid off, these gloves are great for the price and I would buy again/recommend.Likes:- Fits medium to large sized hands well- Easy to move, grab and extend fingers, doesn't tug- Good sun coverage, I've worn these for many outdoor summer hikes and haven't burned my hands onceDislikes:- Not super high quality, but won't fall apart quickly, you get what you pay for for these- this is my second pair, the first one has a ripped seam which I returned and was fully refunded

Le quite una estrella por que las costuras de los dedos son fragiles y a la tercera vez que me los quite jalando suavemente de una punta fue que se descocio ese dedo desde la base. Aguantan en lavadora con ciclo delicado y detergente suave junto con prendas de licra o de fibras mixtas. Son comodos y no obstruyen funcion de las manos y dedos. Si protegen del sol y ademas de lo caliente del volante.

En general son buenos guantes los materiales son suaves y de una calidad aceptable no la mejor en comparación a otros de mayor precio, ademas de que carecen de la parte para quitártelos como otros guantes de este tipo tienen pero por el precio diría que están bien solo algunos detalles en los acabados de los dedos y me gustaría tener la opción de comprar los de color gris .

Los refuerzos de la palma y dedos por secciones es mejor diseño (comparado con los que tienen toda la palma reforzada) ya que permite durabilidad sin mucha rigidez.
