ignore any negative comments, this movie is wonderful and will make you feel truly bonded with whoever you watch it with! i was glued to the screen the entire time, and absolutely adored the way the film was directed, just so beautiful and coquette. if you choose to watch this on a first date, it will surely land you a second!

I didn't know It was about cannable people, but it was a interesting movie.

This movie draws me in every time. Plenty of gore but not too much for the plot. Interesting storyline and I think it wraps up nicely. There was definitely some comedic relief, some came off a slight bit cheesy, in a good way!

First of all, I just finished this movie and it will take me a bit to take it all in, which is a great sign of a terrific horror movie. However, I am reading these other reviews and can tell you that at NO time, did I take this movie to be racist or pro-animal activist! Come on people!! You are going to PC this industry right out the window! To say this is racist ( against whom, I have NO idea) or that because no animals were harmed that it wasn't true "cannibalist horror" movie!! Put your big boy pants on and just don't watch it if violence offends you, it's called a MOVIE for a reason.Now, as for my actual review. What I have always really liked about Eli Roth's films is that they start out bright and sunny with a chance for you to get to know to the main characters which he does again with Green Inferno. It's nice to develop a character like Justine and Jonah so that when the bad stuff starts going down you actually do feel real sympathy for them, both characters were acted terrifically well, by the way. Since I am of the age when movies weren't allowed to show violence towards real animals then I have not seen Cannibal Holocaust, nor do I care to, because I don't want to see live animals tortured and killed. So, to those of us under 50, quit wondering about that other movie and trying to compare it. This is a movie made by someone who understands you don't actually have to kill something to make a movie, that is why it is again, called a MOVIE with "special effects".The scenery and cinematography are fantastic and the twist on how the college students turned up kidnapped by the same tribe they came to protect is priceless horror film making. Anyone who remembers what is like to be a college freshman can kind of understand how these kids got themselves into this situation in the first place. They were trying to fit in, trying to make a positive change in the world and then we see them ruthlessly used as pawns by a government activist who specializes in using fresh young, sensitive minds. Especially the one whose father is a lawyer for the United Nations.The real villain, just like in so many Roth films isn't so much the one who perpetrated the violence but in the "ordinary people" who stood to profit from it. Saving the rainforest still is a good cause and I know most people aren't ignorant enough to let a movie deflect them from that. Overall, it's creepy, gruesome, unsettling and has one of the best endings I've seen in a while! Make sure and watch through the credits!I say a big Bravo to Roth! And, hope for a sequel and answer to that mystery ending.And a big "grow up" for you guys that watch a movie about cannibals and get offended by violence.I think a very poiniant scene is at the end when Justine is forced to stay on her side of the river with the human cannibals or cross it and take her chances with a wild leopard, she inevitably chooses to cross and take her chances with the leopard. Can't say that I blame her! Again, good show!

SPOILER ALERT: There's a lot of carping in the horror hound community about Eli Roth's new film "The Green Inferno", an homage to 70s and 80s Italian cannibal films, the chief one being "Cannibal Holocaust", Ruggero Deodato's classic gore and shock fest. The main gripes seem to be that Roth's film isn't nearly as gritty as those earlier firms and that the heroine escapes the female genital mutilation at the end. Roth has stated that he was inspired by the cinematography of films like Werner Herzog's "Fitzcarraldo" which is known for stunning and lush photography of the South American jungle, the exact opposite of the grimy, sweat-soaked imagery from the Italian films. He wanted the striking juxtaposition of the verdant, green jungle against the red skin color of the cannibals and, of course, the blood. In that respect, it works brilliantly. As far as the ending goes, the heroine's escape from her impending genital mutilation by the cannibals was, I think, necessary for several reasons. Roth clearly wanted the character to survive, and if the quick scene which rolls over the end credits is any indication, she will be back in the sequel to deal with her decision to leave the bad guy behind and lie about it, Plus, can you imagine the outcry from women's rights groups if Roth had gone there with the FGM? Just the idea of it was enough to unsettle, which I believe was the point. There's another issue that there have been complaints about - how could the bad guy not get his comeuppance? Well, the heroine certainly thought he would by leaving him behind to be eaten. Were people expecting her to kill him herself? By leaving, she assumed he was getting his comeuppance, as did the audience. But there is obviously more to the story. Frankly, I have to scratch my head at some of the criticisms, especially that the acting was bad, which I did not find to be true. There have been lots of comments about the "sophomoric toilet humor" because of the scene where one of the girls has violent diarrhea while caged up. Folks, when people are scared out of their wits, they can defecate in that manner, uncontrollably. Just ask any of the survivors of the trains to Auschwitz or those who watched the terrified being ushered into the gas chambers. "The Green Inferno" is a smart, well-directed cannibal gore film and deserves a little better than the media and some fans are giving it. A sequel was in the works, and may or may not still be, but I hope we see more of this story from Roth.

Nicotero wird immer dann gerufen, wenn besonders authentisch aussehende blutige Sachverhalte gefordert werden. Was Tom Savini als Maskenbildner in den Achtzigern war, ist Nicotero für die Neuzeit, gehen doch so ziemlich alle guten Ekelwunden der amerikanischen Film- und Fernsehwelt auf seine Kappe, angefangen bei THE WALKING DEAD, über SCREAM, THE FACULTY bis hin zu HOSTEL, dem anderen großen Eli-Roth-Skandalfilm. Zwischendurch tut sich perfider Humor auf, der die ernste Lage im GREEN INFERNO ein bisschen auflockert. Im Käfig kurz vor der Schlachtung zu mastubieren... das muss man erst einmal bringen!2015 war ein gutes Beschäftigungsjahr für Hauptdarstellerin Lorenza Izzo. Hier spielt sie die Gute, das liebe Mädchen von nebenan, mit dem man mitfiebert und welches doch unbedingt überleben soll. Im Hollywoodthriller KNOCK KNOCK mit Keanu Reeves, der in etwa zur selben Zeit entsteht, mimt sie die unbarmherzige Böse. Schön, dass sie beides überzeugend ans Publikum bringen kann.Allerdings stiftet der Ausgang der deftigen grünen Hölle etwas Verwirrung und scheint nicht wirklich lohnenswert angelegt zu sein. Das ist ein wenig schade, aber subgenretechnisch gesehen liegt mit THE GREEN INFERNO trotzdem meines Erachtens einer der besten Gore-Filme der letzten zehn Jahre vor, der sich vor stilbildenden und historischen Vertretern der Sparte verbeugt, aber durch seine gut durchdachte Geschichte ans aktuelle Zeitgeschehen anspielt und für sich allein bestehen kann. Sowas gab's davor höchstens in Variationen, aber genauso nie. Ein Horrorfilm, dessen Handlung im gleichen Maße wie sein Drehort den Atem zu rauben wagt, erlebt man in diesem Maße eher selten. Das missverständlich-merkwürdige Ende? Geschenkt!--- Zur Blu-ray ---Glücklicherweise befindet sich THE GREEN INFERNO im Vertrieb der riesigen Universal Pictures, nachdem sie Highlight Film als Eigenvertrieb geschluckt haben. Dadurch darf man mit einem hoch gesetzten Standard an phantastischen HD-Auswertungen auf Blu-ray rechnen.GREEN INFERNO wird auf den ersten Blick also mit einem Wendecover ohne FSK-Aufdruck ausgeliefert und offenbart bei näherem Hinsehen sein Hauptmenü nach Ansicht des Trailers zu BONE TOMAHAWK, einem ähnlichen Film aus der Schmiede von Universal Pictures.Im verlängerten Director's Cut und damit vollkommen ungeschnitten tritt dann der Hauptfilm in Erscheinung, der mit brillanten Farben, scharfen HD-Konturen und echt aussehenden Schwarzwerten vollends aufdrehen kann. Die Drehschauorte wirken in HD eine Spur echter als man es der Standardauflösung zutrauen würde.Tonal komplettiert man das perfekte technische Bild in äußerst druckvollem 5.1 DTS-HD sowohl in deutscher als auch in englischer Sprache. Die Dialoge sind regelrecht laut, während Geräuscheffekte mit vollem Tieftonfundament und darüber hinaus spielerisch verteilt auf alle Lautsprecher aufs Publikum abgefeuert werden.Der Sektor der Sonderausstattung enttäuscht am Ende leider ein wenig, obwohl auf der Rückseite der Blu-ray akribisch genau angegeben wird, wie lange dieses und jenes Extra dauert. Alle Schnippsel zusammengenommen gehen mickrige zehn Minuten lang bestehend aus nichtssagenden Interviews mit Cast und Crew. Zumindest sind die knappen Clips in HD angelegt, genauso wie die Trailershow zu anderen Horrorfilmtipps des Vertriebshauses, die es noch on top dazu gibt und wesentlich mehr zu beeindrucken weiß.Nichtsdestotrotz wissen die technische Umsetzung und nicht zuletzt THE GREEN INFERNO selber auf voller Linie zu überzeugen, sodass man sich einen der besten neueren Horrorschocker in die Filmesammlung stellen sollte - fünf Sterne für die Blu-ray von THE GREEN INFERNO, welche meines Erachtens die Höchstwertung trotz kleinerer Abzüge in der B-Note redlich verdient.

Honestamente, compré ésta película porque el precio estaba excelente, nunca la había visto, pero Eli Roth es uno de mis directores de horror favoritos así que le dí una oportunidad y no me decepcionó para nada. La actuación es bastante decente y el Gore es muy real. La portada del blu ray vino un poquito maltratada pero la definición de la película es excelente!
