Best Chuck Tingle Book I’ve Read So Far
I won’t lie, this one was a rollercoaster ride which I thoroughly enjoyed. Every time I thought the story couldn’t get any weirder, it got even more bizarre than the moment before. Love to see it.

The only good work of metafiction
This book is good on its own merits, and not just as a riff on, or criticism of another work. In fact, it's a parody of another famous wizard story only in a very superficial sense. It's mostly a commentary about the nature of the creative process, and what you should and shouldn't be willing to put up with in a relationship. It is legitimately funny and oddly moving. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys (or, like me, tolerates) hot-to-trot literature.

The first novel I've finished reading all year
Let me start by saying I first fell in love with this book because of the title, which is perfect. It really encapsulates the meaning of Pride. Apart from that, it's an "adult romance novel" according to its author, which appears to be an amalgam of genre romance, modern rom-com, and softcore. On top of that, it's a superficial Harry Potter parody, mostly stealing a few names and making light of certain fanfic predilections. For instance, you could read it as a broad parody of Harry slash Snape, or maybe an exploration of the sexual tension that could, in theory, exist between two such characters as adults. However, the main thrust of the book if metafiction. Not only are there fourth wall breaking moments, and not only are some elements obvious parody, but the Snabe character's focus is on "metamagic," which is using D&D bard magic as a way to communicate to the reader he is a fictional character in a novel. The book makes a number of good points about self-actualization and relationships, and while hardly groundbreaking, I want to say this is a book with a kind heart. The book is rough and imperfect in some aspects, but it's written with the confidence of someone not afraid to say what they have to say. I really enjoyed it. I'm a busy writer and parent and I don't have a lot of time to read lately. This was actually the first book I've finished reading cover to cover in months. If this book sounds like something you would like, it probably is. It's certainly one of the most original things I've read in a while, and I enjoyed spending time in their weird genre-bound world.

Actually really good
I've never read a Chuck Tingle book before, I was just here to see a certain Terf's characters re-imagined in a way she wouldn't like. I was surprised how much I really liked this book. It could definitely use a bit more editing for basic issues, but I was surprised how much I liked the meta magic, and the romance really worked for me. I had a fun time reading this strange thing.

A wonderful Tingler
Of course there are some editing errors, but the heart of this is so pure and so in keeping with the buckaroo trot. This is billed as a Harry Potter parody, but plot wise it's more of a romance trope parody. Still, this drives home the message of acceptance and love that is absent in JK's personal philosophy which is the entire point.

The best wizard book series
This book is amazing! thank chuck for creating the best wizard books ever! Much better writing and theme than some other, trans exclusionary, wizarding authors. I hope Chuck writes more books about trans wizard Harriet Porber, I hope everyone reads them, I hope somone makes films based on them.Trans women are women!

My first visit to the tingleverse...
And certainly far from the last. I jumped on this purchase immediately when a friend showed me "Chuck Tingle's response to J. K. Rowling's transphobia" on principle alone. I wanted to support an author who supported queer and trans folx! I've seen covers of Tingle books before, and frankly they're hilarious, and I didn't know much else when I promptly installed the Kindle App on my phone and began reading.I'm not going to lie, this is the first book I read start to finish since God knows when. Not that I don't like to read, but have severe depression and frequently find myself abandoning things I started. This book was not hard to commit to. It is short and easy to consume and most of all fun to consume. I needed that. I appreciate Tingle's straight forward and on the nose meta commentary and how nonchalantly it's written in, and whether it was his intention or not, I found this book hilarious. Sweetly touching at points, too. I cried a few times, unabashedly, and I love that Tingle makes a point of giving those fourth wall breaking shout outs to his readers. This book made me feel better about myself than any other book I've read simply because of that paradigm shift, and it didn't go unnoticed.I was honestly surprised at how infrequent the sex scenes were and maybe that made them that much more fun! My only complaint is that there's a fair amount of small errors sprinkled throughout that range from negligible to slightly confusing, but I'm still happy to give this a 5 star because in the end the book communicated exactly what it set out to. Love.10/10, 0 regrets would purchase and read again.

Fantastic Meta-Magic Worldbuilding
Are there typos? Yes, lots. But this book is the perfect balance of self-aware, sincere, hilarious, and thoughtful. Being trans I was a bit hesitant, but Chuck treats the characters with respect and writes them very naturally.

A literary magnum opus.
So, I bought this because I saw this book on Tumblr, thought how ridiculous it was and decided to unironically give it a try. Turns out the author can write really well. The book itself is very entertaining and the characters aren't just one-dimensional jokes either, they are compelling and you find yourself rooting for our main characters. The sex scenes are entertaining as hell, and the comedy is on point.I bought this as a joke, but I don't think it's a joke anymore. Please, send help.

Funny and moving
I really enjoyed this book. I don't normally read romance, but I always wanted to read some of Chuck Tingle's work and I wasn't disappointed. The story was fast-paced, at times hilarious, other times quite tense, and I love the tongue-in-cheek breaking of the fourth wall. The book needed better proofreading, but it wasn't too distracting.

Book is great for queer people needing something light-hearted and entertaining
Absolutely great book and a much more entertaining read than the series it parodies off!Promotes love and acceptance of yourself and others throughout the book whilst being really funny with a decent plot. Never thought I'd find myself getting turned on by a sex scene involving a literal dinosaur named Snabe but here we are. Would highly recommend this book to others, especially queer folk who might want something more light hearted and full of acceptance and positivity. Thank you for this beautiful ass book, it's great. ❤️❤️❤️
