The Serpent is Stupendous!
The Serpent, book 8 in Kathryn Le Veque’s De Wolfe Pack series, is absolutely stupendous! OMG, this book is so good! Penelope is a true De Wolfe warrior, and the perfect mate for Brohdi De Shera, who I love, love, love! And I love that the De Wolfe family plays a larger part in this book. It’s nice to see so many of the characters that we know and love. You have to read this wonderful book!

Not my favorite in the series
I have loved this series so far (from book 2 the “The Wolfe) and was looking forward to Penelope’s story but right from the beginning; it was an instant turn off for me with the whole serpent thing in the marshes. Utterly ridiculous! I gave the book 3 stars because William “The Wolfe”, Paris, and Kieren (the true heart of the Wolfe series) and their respective children are what hold my interest. I will continue with the series, as I’m looking very forward to the next “A Wolf amount Wolves” bringing 4th son James back so hopefully this next book will redeem the series for me for going forward. Just seems after Patrick’s story, then Scott’s and then Troy’s, which were all very good, that Edward’s story was a little lacking in my opinion, though I still enjoyed the story. But Penelope’s story just feel way short because of that ridiculous creature. On to the next with fingers crossed - reviews for the next book look like they’re the best reviews for a book in this series, so I’ll have tissues near by, as I think I will definitely need them.

"Stand By Your Man At Any Cost"
Penelope was a force to be reckoned with. She was a De Wolfe who came from a long line of powerful knights. Being a woman didn't stop her from being a knight and fighting right along side the men she loved and trusted. She believed with every breath she took in loyalty and the core values that her father and all of his knights and soldiers believed in. When her father, The Wolfe with a perfect reputation, and a legacy of powerful ancestors behind him, came to her with a life changing request; she stayed true to what she believed in; being a knight along side the men she had idolized all her life, was her life.King Edward had chosen her to settle the long time feud the English had with Wales. He wanted her to marry an ancestral Welsh King who crushed them in war after war. He was Bhrodi de Shera, The Serpent. Penelope had no interest in getting married. In fact she was happy to live her life fighting and being a knight. She wasn't fit to be a wife and she knew nothing about taking care of a keep. She did know about swords, armor, and how to train horses. She could fight as well as any man since she had been trained by her father, The Wolf. She refused to be used as a pawn in King Edwards scheme to get rich and conquer another country for his greed and gains. Her father didn't want to ask her to do this either but he didn't want to see any more of his kids die at the hands of the Serpent. She lost one brother and she had to admit she didn't want to lose another. It was her duty. A woman didn't have a say in who they married especially when the king chose for you. After throwing many temper tantrums, and putting her dad through much hard ache she had to concede and do as she was commanded. It was actually a great marriage and Bhrodi came with as many accolades and more than her father. Plus the marriage would finally bring a peace to England and Wales. Still angry with the choice that was made for her she and her family were headed to Wales where she would meet her new husband and see her new home. This story was filled with twist and turns and I practically bit my nails off at every turn. Well I would have if I chewed my nails. I loved Penelope's strength and that she backed down to no one, not even the king. I spent a lot of time trying to predict one out come after another but those many twist and turns threw me off every time. The suspense many times drove me crazy and caused me to skip ahead. Although I read it in different sections it definitely didn't take away from the excitement. This is one book in the series I would definitely read again. I liked Penelope's story and point of view. Bhrodi and Penelope were the perfect match and I liked that Kathry told the store from both sides. Other books in the series it's been the man's story but this time it was both Bhrodi and Penelope speaking because it was both their lives being controlled by Edward. Their chemistry was so well matched up and it was nice seeing them get to know each other. The time they took to please each other and their beliefs as both being a knight butted at times but then they came together because they really understood each other. Serpent I would have to say was one of my favorite books so far in The De Wolfe Series.

review of the serpent
Wow can I say it what a truly amazing outstanding book! Ms. Kathryn Le Veque has really outdone herself with this sequel of the Wolfe pack! I hate to say it but out of all of Ms. Le Veque’s newer novels that have come out recently not counting her epics this is one of the best I have read thus far! I am literally blown away from this amazing engrossing story with brilliant in-depth characterizations of her tomboyish, strong-willed, intelligent beautiful heroine Penelope de Wolfe one of William’s kids to the mysterious lovable handsome Welsh prince hero Bhrodi de Shera and the rest of the Wolfe pack bringing old familiar characters from William, Jordan, Jemma, Kieran and Paris along with some new characters including William/Jordan, Kieran/Jemma and Paris/Calladora’s kids that you can’t help but love as well. That several times I would almost be late to work, or just miss daily things since I wanted to be in this world a little longer and it was just so hard to put down just so I could see what would happen next in the book. There is so much to this story than just being a romance story this is how a great medieval history fiction novel with all its political intrigue, warfare, captivating plot twists and turns that totally completely fascinates you holding me spellbound until the very end! This is how a continuation of a great sequel should be written with the romance being secondary and complicating matters. The book yes starts off with an arranged marriage of Penelope being forced and betrothed to Bhrodi. She fights the idea, her father, her family, king, country okay literally everyone but Penelope grudgingly accepts the inevitable she must marry Bhrodi then moves beyond that to a perfect blend of true loyalty to herself and family then a slow growing affection to ever-lasting abiding love between Penelope and Bhrodi. Penelope defends Bhrodi against all the forces she fought against in the first place! Penelope is just one of the best female heroines Ms. Le Veque has had in such a long while she is a beautiful woman with a tenacity and strength to her that I just loved her truly a phenomenal person yet a knight to the very core that I couldn’t find anything wrong with her! Bhrodi took me a while to like due to his complex enigmatic nature but really he is the perfect mate to Penelope’s charismatic persona!I went through a complete emotional roller coaster laughing one minute and then crying the next that despite this turmoil I totally enjoyed the journey and can’t wait to read more about the Wolfe pack. The only thing besides the fact that the book had to end was that I wanted more than anything for Thomas and definitely Kevin to end up happily ever after that Me. Le Veque hopefully will write more about them. I un-equivocally give this remarkable book five stars really it deserves more! Thank you Ms. Le Veque for this book I eagerly await your next adventure!

Another super amazing story
I read the Scorpion before this, not that it mattered, each book can be read as a stand alone novel. But this book was great and it was cool to read about William de Wolfe, one of my fav characters from the novel The Wolfe. It was also great to realize that the hero was the son of Gallus de Shera from The Lords of Thunder books, another amazing series I highly recommend. But I did feel sorry for one of the heroine's suitors and am glad he got his own story - The Scorpion (which i also recommend). This book was wonderful and the serpent myth in the story that turned out to be true was wonderful. I highly recommend this novel and all Kathryn's other novels, this author is a genius and her attention to detail is something that I find greatly lacking in most stories I read. I love that fact that we get an insight into each characters mind and not just their physical movements. I also love that there is never much turmoil between the lead characters and any there is quickly ends. Kathryn Le Veque is my fav author and I hope you take the time to look through her books.

Kathryn Le Veque Has Another Winner
Kathryn has done a marvellous job of following on with THE WOLFE story & it's brilliant to see the "extended family" in the first one still be involved in this book. I thoroughly recommend this book if you need a good read of gorgeous Knights & their Maidens - so good to read about chilalry & how well the Knights treated their Ladies. Never wanted the story to end as it took me to another time & place which some authors are limited & can not do but Kathryn Le Veque is a mistress of story telling & that is a blessing. Happy reading

Now this was a good story
Loved this book. As with all of Kathryn’s story’s it’s well written. I love that it covers such a range of emotions. The story line is always tight and this makes it a can put it down.
