Surprisingly Vegan Original Recipe Waffle Mix 2-Pack

I bought this to go along with a waffle maker as part of a gift for a friend. I kept one box to try myself since it was in a two-pack. I've made waffles with these a few times now and have a couple of notes for how best to use them. I have the Cuisinart Classic waffle maker and found that when I made these the first couple of times, they didn't get crispy at all and stayed pretty soft. The most recent time I made them, I used a lot more coconut oil spray on the iron (like three coats instead of one) and that helped a ton in terms of getting them to be crispy on the outside, more golden, and release from the iron easily. Before that, I was having to use a spatula to pry the waffle away little by little. Now it's working much better and I can appreciate the ease of the mix. I've also added in other things a couple of times, including pecan pieces and blueberries. A very good mix. Still not quite as good as making waffles from scratch, but when I don't want to put the effort into brunch, this definitely does the job.

For all those who are ready to give up because the waffle came out messy , undercooked, dont give up , have patience. The key is the waffle mix to water ratio.It's better to use the dry and wet measuring cups to get the right ratio as indicated on the box. Second thing, heat setting on my cuisinart classic waffle maker should be turned all the way to 4 or 5 and needs to bake for extra time too.Anything less than 4 or 5 setting will be undercooked or runny.Third thing, if you did receive mix which is hard concrete like blob, do not trash it like I did. Apparently this is normal due to vacuum seal, just need to open the seal and massage the pack a little bit to turn it to powder.It took a while and lot of wasted mix for me to get it correct.I will order again , there are not many companies making vegan waffle mixes, and no matter the initial setback, this is a great mix.Just need a little patience and do some trial and error.Once you figure out how to get it right , this is a great tasty product, I would gladly purchase again .Thanks.

I don't understand the reviews. I make amazing waffles with this mix. I add bananas and walnuts and everything turns out delicious. I have to let them stay in the waffle maker a little longer than with other mixes, but they turn out perfect. The mix is thick, compared to Kodiak Cakes, so I freestyle with the water to mix ratio. The Kodiak Cakes mix cooks a lot faster and of course produce more traditional looking waffles, but I prefer Surprisingly Vegan. I've also tried Pamela's Buckwheat mix as well. It's not my favorite, but it's a decent alternative. Currently, I use all three.

This product arrived at my door in poor condition, but even though the outside packaging didn't hold up, the product inside was very good.. The boxes were both opened, and the bags inside..... neither was opened or leaking, but one bag was more of a powder, and one bag was vacuum sealed and hard. I don’t know which one is right, the powder or the hardened brick-like package. I contacted the seller and they were very helpful and understanding. I found that the shipping condition is a vacuum packaged product, to maintain freshness, so the powdery mix I received apparently had had the vacuum packaging broken and released the vacuum, causing it to be a powder. They not only provided a complementary package of the waffle mix product, but they also asked me what my opinion was regarding how to present the product to their Amazon customers, and how to explain the product's packaging and what to expect. I frankly was flattered at the fact that they took the time to ask my opinion as a consumer. I offered my opinions and let them know I appreciated their customer service. They are a small business, serving a niche market, and have an excellent product. I've made the waffles, and they are excellent. Other's who have trouble with the quality of the waffles, I can't speak for, but the waffles I made were excellent and just as advertised.

WOW! Okay, I'm really picky when it comes to food. It has to taste good, but also be good for me. When I saw this, I thought I'd give it a try, but not before visiting the website. 6 ingredients, and I only had to add water? I bought it...I was never a "waffle maker" before trying this mix, so don't let inexperience deter you. I followed the directions EXACTLY as they appeared on the box...my waffles were perfect! The mix looked a little thin/watery initially, but after waiting the instructed 5 min, it thickened up nicely.The item arrived timely with Saturday delivery (which I thought was great since it was food I ordered!). High quality packaging--vacuum sealed for freshness so NO PRESERVATIVES required (loved learning this!!)--feels like a brick, but just cut the bag open and break up the contents--you'll notice the wonderful ingredients of flax, nuts and vanilla right away!Don't let the "healthy" turn you off...this stuff is great tasting. My kids LOVE it. We bought this several weeks ago, and we've been eating it weekly ever since--without any guilt. So easy, so yummy!I'm going to order the recommended waffle iron-im totally sold on making waffles now--so easy!! this is easier (and healthier) than pancakes, and the clean up is a breeze.My family loves them!What an absolutely delicious product!
