The Life and Love of Trees Hardcover – November 1, 2009

This was described as USED but in good condition. It arrived and was in VERY USED condition and not go "Good". Not worth the money. Never buy used again.

The photographs in this book  The Life & Love of Trees  are spectacular beyond words. Lewis Blackwell's seemingly bigger than life photographs lure you into the very nature, the very presence of these living giants. Several times I have found myself happily lost meandering in and out of the colorful pages of this BIG impressive book of Trees.To me the words in the book are only second in importance to the photographs. Like the trees that grow in nature they are not in any strick order or structure. They are free to grow in any pattern stunted or standing straight, short or tall, growing where ever and at any time they please reguardless of demands we as humans put upon them. That is the nature and beauty of trees, and in my opinion the beauty of this book.Thank you Ellen for introducing us to Lewis Blackwell and his book; The Life and Love of Trees! Wow, absolutely stunning! I've seen 100s of coffee table books that show the world, nature, animals, etc., and consider myself well traveled. Yet I feel as I flipped the pages of this book that I was both transported to magical (yet real) places and times around the globe, and inspired to get outside of my house and spend more time outside.I cannot comment on the text; I'm a picture reader. But almost regardless of what the text says, I'd say the pictures make this book stunning irregardless. My only negative comment is that I wish the printing/color quality could be improved to match the quality of the photos/colors. The print quality is good, but not excellent.

This is a beautiful book! I bought this for a fellow tree lover and was so jealous and sad that I didn't buy it for myself. My friend loved it. This can be a great gift or treat to yourself. Perfect for a coffee table or display on your bookshelf. Love!

Honestly I didn't buy the book for myself, but for a family member that is not how would you say....internet friendly. I was happy w/the price, the communication w/the shipment and the quickness of the delivery. The book was in great shape and this will be a great gift. I would highly reccomend using amazon.com for future purchases. Sorry that I don't have much to share on the content of the book, but from the cover....it looks like some wonderful pictures of trees. I guess for me, I'd rather be camping in a bunch of trees vs. looking at them in a book-just me :)

As a forest ecologist, I enjoyed the breath of the beauty of trees that is captured in this book, as well as the obvious love of trees apparent in the author's text. This book, however, desperately needs to be printed at a higher level of quality and clarity that befits its large format and spectacular photographs. The grainy print was very hard to take knowing how it would look if done more effectively.

After reading a review of this book, I purchased it as a gift for my best friend who is an artist. I glanced through it before wrapping it to send to her, and almost kept it! I stared mesmerized at each page...the photos are simply stunning. I have never seen anything like this book before! My friend called me after receiving this stammering for words, and told me she had only made it to page 3 before calling me.This book will now be what I give special people in my life as gifts!!

I find trees are the ambiance of the landscape, so I purchased this book to browse the pages for relaxation. It is an excellent way to get work off your mind at the end of the day; tone down before bed; or just sit anytime of the day and get lost in the photos. The pages are large enough to let you feel as if you are standing right there in the grove. Blackwell has captured what all of us enjoy who are lovers of trees.

A really stunning book for artists and those who appreciate nature alike. Worth the money absolutely. Just gorgeous to use for inspiration or just a dip in and out book.

Really lovely awe inspiring photos - perfect coffee table book - often dip in and out of it - would buy as a present for nature loving friends.
