The Drop Box: Three Stories about Sacrifice (Adventures in Odyssey)

Adventures in Odyssey never let us down! They have transformed car trips from painful to 100% fun for everyone! This was a tough topic but they delivered it with great sensitivity.

We love listening to these stories in my truck. My son wants to hear them over and over. They have good messages. Some reviewers for some of the Odyssey series have complained that there are some scenarios in some of the stories that they don't feel is appropriate for children (a story about a child stealing for instance) and although I would love it in life if these things never happened, the fact is they do. We don't all walk in the same shoes nor are we exposed to the same life experiences so for us we find it good that our son can hear those scenarios so he can learn the Christian way to speak about it and handle it. When my son hears these scenarios/stories I don't fear he's going to start/grow up doing those inappropriate things, my prayer is that he grows in his Christianity and learns how to handle/deal with situations he may be exposed to in his peer groups out in this vast world of ours. We can't always be there every time our children are exposed to life so I hope these Odyssey stories he's enjoying in his earlier years (he's 7) will serve to reinforce in his heart and mind the difference between right/wrong and how to react to it. Just my opinion.

These stories are very well done, as always. But one thing to be aware of in the "Chosen" episodes is that the adoption narrative feels dismissive to the adoptees feelings. While I understand what Focus on the Family was trying to do, it falls short. I would not play that particular episode for any adoptees or foster children, and only with other children if accompanied by lots of discussion. Glossing over pain does not help anyone.

Much shorter than regular CD's of Adventures in Odyssey but it's also cheaper. More importantly, this is a must hear story of an amazing Korean man who goes out of his way to save orphans. It is very hear warming and provides wonderful opportunity to talk to the kids about helping the less fortunate. The only thing we didn't appreciate were the overly contrived accents the voice actors were straining to do. Would have been fine if they just spoke normally as the accents did nothing to enhance the story but rather served to distract from the message.

We instantly became a fan of Adventures in Oddessy with our first purchase and after listening to the entire CD I went to buy some more. I was very excited to see this one as both of our daughters are adopted from South Korea. While their story is different and not related to the baby box, this CD provided some wonderful discussion for us.

A good CD to help us realize that there truly is a way to help others in need. A wonderful teaching tool to help your children learn what giving is all about, what loving others, the way God loves them, really means. No judgement, just God's people doing the work God has asked them to do.

Slightly different from the movie but the general story was the same. Very good. My 5 year old sat through the movie (which is subtitled so I had to read the subtitles to her the whole movie) and liked it, and really likes the cd. She loves AIO, so when we saw that there was a Drop Box story we had to have it!

The stories are touching; great for several different ages and for those interested in church ministry.

This was a great, inexpensive addition to our AIO collection. We enjoy listening as a family during long car rides.
