CMSA Core Curriculum for Case Management

I started studying for the CCM exam 3 months ahead of the test date, usually mostly this book. It's over 600 pages long--a lot of material to digest. As there are no specifically recommended methods of study, I relied mostly on word of mouth from other case managers as far as what to study, and all of them recommended the Core Curriculum. A week before the exam I also purchased CCM Exam Secrets, which is a lot shorter and more concise. I think this book is necessary to get the big picture of what case management is, but the CCM Exam Secrets zeroed in on the short list of what would be covered in the exam.

This book was excellent in preparing for the CMSA certification review course.I passed on the first try. I also used the Anderson CE review course for case management that goes along with this book. It provides the page number for finding the answer to every question. The other book that I found very helpful was the CCM certification study guide. It had lots of questions and asked each question so many times that you had no choice but to learn the material. When I took the exam there were probably 2 questions that were familiar to me; but, do to all of the practice exams that I took and reading the CMSA core curriculum for case management 2 times: I was extremely well prepared. My advice to anyone preparing for the CMSA certification examination for the CCM certification. Read the CMSA core curriculum for case management and practice as many examination questions as you can find over and over again. Good Luck.

I read this book from cover to cover--BORING!!!! I wanted to take the CCM exam, so I thought this book would help me pass the exam; it did not.I used ADDITIONAL SOURCES to help me pass the CCM exam. Don't bother purchasing this book if your intention is to pass the CCM exam or gain chapters of knowledge. I was working in Case Management for 2 years before I took the CCM exam and passed the first time. I am always hungry for additional knowledge, however the material in this book is presented in a very heavy, unimaginative way. Reading this book is like sitting in a physics class with a teacher who speaks in a monotone voice!I would rate this book with 2.5 stars for little bits of information that I found important, but not enough to warrant a recommendation to purchase this book.

To really do justice to this book, I have to tell you I wanted to destroy this book when I first started "reading" it because it is presented in OUTLINE FORM. It is a required book for the Case Management Certification course. HOWEVER, it is now my top listed favorite for retrieving information accurately and rapidly. This is a must book for seasoned Case Managers, my category, and for students seeking clarification and language. I am a "pilot" also and order through my mate's account with Amazon. I passed my CM cert exam with help of this book

I recently sat for the CCM exam and used a number of products to prepare, from a CCM Study Guide to ordering a CD with 1106 sample test questions. However, most of the material in the exam came directly from this book. Reviewing this text was pretty much all I needed.

Did not find this as easy to follow as my other case management tomes but it had all the necessary information if you new how to look for it. I don't think I can count it down for its format when I was able to find the info.

If are entering the world of Case Management, this is the book for you.Please read this book before you enter the field of case management.The responsiblities you are undertaking may make you thing twice before going into the field. It is a great book if Case Management is your next career leap. A must read.....Workman's Comp Case Manager
