Gold Crown Iced Christmas Cake - 24oz 681g

I gave this cake to my family who are English. I understand that it was delicious. I was having my OWN cake in England!!

arrived promptly, excellent "Christmas" product available beyond holiday times. Great for an excellent taste product. My Irish wife loves this Irish desert.

I decided to buy a fruitcake rather than bake my own last year (2015). However, I was very disappointed with this cake. Yes, it's beautifully decorated and fairly large (between 5-6 inches) for the price but it the cake itself was very dry. I was also unable to taste much much alcohol like whiskey or brandy. For those of you who have made your own cake, you know that the alcohol keeps the cake moist and acts as a preservative. The cake was made mainly with currants and a few glacé cherries. The currants were dry like they were old and hadn't been soaked in alcohol. Thus, if I am unable to make my own cake again, I will buy Walker's Shortbread brand or Glendinnich brand Fruitcake instead of this pretty little cake. I also would never send it as a gift.

My husband is from Scotland and must have Christmas Cake every year. This one is the one he likes best.Unfortunately, when we received it in the mail, the box the cake was in was torn up and scotch taped, as if they took a damaged box to put the cake in for shipping (not the cardboard box, the actual cake box). The cake was still sealed, but it is concerning when something to do with food products comes damaged in any form.

I love this cake !
