Wow, I can’t say enough about this kit! Me and my son had SO much fun building this set and he has shown it off to all of his friends. It was part of a homeschool lesson, but I ended up buying several other kits just for fun. There is no glue, everything is held together by rubber bands so once you build it, there is no waiting to use it! It actually plays the songs very clearly, we started with jingle bells, but there are several other choices of songs, as well as how to make your own. The directions are extremely clear and straight forward. It comes with a thick sheet of paper that talks about the science of sound and things like pitch and such. It was such a great teaching moment! My son is 5 and had no problem building this with a little help/direction from me. I figured I would be left doing most of it, but I was very wrong! He was so engaged in this activity. It’s also a great room decoration once done that has a cool, “I made this myself”, story! Seriously an underrated product that I don’t see many people talking about. EVERY child should get a chance to build one of these!

It was relatively easy to assemble. It took a bit longer than the attention span of the 7 and 8 year old that helped me but now that it's built my kids are having a lot of fun composing songs on it. A couple of the pegs that hold in the keys did break and they didn't provide any extras, so a little glue was necessary.

This is a great activity to do with a kid. I did this with my 6 yr old daughter on a rainy day and it took awhile to assemble but it was simple enough for her to build it with my assistance! In the end, she could be proud of what she made and also play songs that are provided in the manual. Even better is that she can see how the machine works and experiment with the pegs to play her own tune. It’s a good size and good quality. I hig recommend as a family activity or gift!

This was our second purchase of a product from this company. They do not disappoint! My daughter enjoyed her kit from Christmas so much that when I saw these on sale I grabbed it and another. She is fascinated with how things work and having bvb the ability to make something work all by herself is so rewarding! Plus, she is obsessed with all things "old timey " so this definitely fits the bill. Highly recommend these-great gifts, great educational activities.

My 9, almost 7, and almost 5 year old loved using the assembly instructions to put this together. I think it gave them a feeling of accomplishment following directions in order to build something. Unlike some other puzzles we had formerly gotten that required glue, this one was very easy to put together with rubber bands. We finished I think in under 2 hours, with all of them taking turns. The children really expressed a lot of excitement to have something like this to build. As far as the actual sounds, I don't have a musical ear: my almost 5 year old is the only one interested in actually using it post build, and she doesn't seem to mind any imperfections in the sound.

I bought this for my second grandson's 5th birthday gift. I know that's slightly below the proper age group, but he loved it. When we started to put it together, he said he's not good at building things, but by the end, I was telling him which parts went where and he was doing it on his own. Really boosted his confidence in his own abilities. He and his older brother had a lot of fun racing once it was assembled, and he actually was catching on to the proper angles to get the marbles to hit his own cars. I'm very happy with this purchase!

This kit was awesome, my 9 year old built it with minimal assistance , and had a blast doing it. She carefully assembled each part in about 1 hr. 30m. It's nice and big too, no disappointment upon opening the box and finding a way smaller item than expected. The parts were sturdy and easy to work with. Overall, it teaches mechanics and music, I will call it a great buy. I will be purchasing the other sets in the future, I think this is a great company.

This is a great toy, but assembly really requires an adult to help. My 8-year-old granddaughter loves it and she and I had a lot of fun assembling it. The assembly is difficult, and several steps really need better attention in the assembly guide. Once we had it together, she spent hours playing with it and teaching her imaginary class how it works and how to program it by placing the pegs.

Followed the directions completely and the end result was looking at beads rotating around. Took it apart and started again and same thing. Tried the YouTube video the company recommends, but the video was a 30 second promotion video, not an instructional video. Just a complete waste of money. Would have been better to buy a kaleidoscope and use the extra money for a snack.
