Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this album by the folk singer/songwriter. Sunset And Other Beginnings was a 1975 release on Neighborhood Records. Contains eight Melanie originals plus great versions of Broadway and popular standards. On her renditions of 'Almost Like Being In Love' and 'Ol' Man River' rock critic Jack Kelly said "she lifts them bodily out of cliché corner with treatments so different and apt it makes you wonder why someone didn't see the possibilities long before Melanie did. The bonus track 'Beautiful People' was recorded live at The Royal Albert Hall, London on 6th October 1975. It was released originally as the B Side to the 'Almost Like Being In Love' single. Available for the first time on CD.

This is one of Melanie's weaker efforts. The Sun and The Moon is the highlight and it is Melanie at her best. However, the rest of the album doesn't grab me as so many of her other incredible albums have. The background is listless.

Soothing sounds for the soul
I love this album. Melanie is a singer/musician that can please just about any lover of the sound of the generation she grew up in, the Woodstock generation. I listen to her often and she calms my nerves after a particularly hard day.

My one and only live concert was promoting this LP. The new format ook me straight back to the concert venue and my younger days, sadly the mirror brought me back to the now.

This is the first release on CD of this album, quality is superb.Just a pity, Amazon have messed up the mp3s, of which, not all are ripped from this CD, which IMHO is superior to the 2005 mp3s they are supplying.
