Mother Teresa of Calcutta: A Personal Portrait: 50 Inspiring Stories Never Before Told

The Best about "One of the Best"!
I was looking for a complete book about this exceptional woman after having an interest in her life, piqued by many short stories. I purchased a few "Theresa of Calcutta" books, at the same time, not being able to make up my mind. This book was by far, the best of the offerings. The author spent a lot of time with Mother Theresa and the stories are very inspirational from how he got involved in the first place to travels into communist countries. This is an up close and very personal account by an excellent chronicler of his experiences and his observations. It should stand the test of time and not too many of those who follow us should find this the work of an over-zealous, religious fanatic. By the nature of her life and because some of us are always searching for truth and looking for more, this book does not end the quest. It merely takes you much further (or is it farther or does it really matter if you get my message?) down the road of insight. I hope you buy or borrow the book and read it. Mother Theresa of Calcutta is a real Saint.

Great book!
I have been researching the life of this woman for some time, and felt that there are yet no biographies of her that fulfil my expectations, so to speak. And although this is no biography or intends to be, it's the first book that really made me "feel" the heart of this amazing human being. In a straightforward simple language it conveys an encounter with her as if we were present observers in her life.Thank you father Leo, for it has been a beautiful experience. It is a dammed great book!

Up-Close Memoir
Monsignor Maasburg gives a riveting personal memoir of travels and events with Mother Teresa, offering a glimpse behind-the-scenes of this remarkable woman, making apparent the ordinariness of holiness, which is comprised of the accumulation of a succession of small events. That Mother Teresa should have said that we must do small things with great love, and that we are called to be faithful rather than ''successful'' (in the worldly way) -- these truths are brought into magnificent relief by this riveting personal memoir of Monsignor Maasburg, who served as interpreter and confessor for Mother Teresa for many years. The book is replete with anecdotes that explicate for us, again, the myriad "small things" that Mother did that taken together amounted to a life of holiness. Thanks to Monsignor Maasburg for sharing these stories, through which we gain additional perspective on Mother's "ordinariness" in matters small and great. A book that edifies, because the author allows its subject to shine through in all her saintliness.

Bl Mother Teresa is a model of love for our time.
This book is another opportunity to learn more about this saint who lived and loved in our time. She is such a model for us all of what Our Lord expects us to do to help those in need as her mentor, Jesus did. Every word in this book exudes her presence as she shows how to live the plan for her life that God meant for her to do. She lived a life of grace, love and trust in Our Lord and now is rewarded to be in His presence for all of eternity. This book is an inspiration to all who feel that their lives are not what they want them to be. Bl. Teresa would say then take off and find how you can help others and your cup will filled to overflowing!
