Inch by Inch: The Garden Song (Trophy Picture Books (Paperback))

My granddaughter learned this song in school, and sang it to me. When she told me there was a book, I immediately came in here to buy it. Superb condition, cute illustrations, great book to sing along to. Adorable video on YouTube with John Denver singing with the muppets. Melts the heart!

This is the second time I'm buying it! It is an illustrated book of the "Garden Song". It has the piano music for the Garden Song in the back of the book. It's difficult for a beginning or second year piano student. Cute illustrations. Overall a very nice book!

I’ve been using this song in curriculum for a garden unit and figured there must be a picture book out there for it somewhere. I was not disappointed! Wonderful simple illustrations make for a great book to sing along to with children!

Instead of, "Inch by inch, row by row, *please* bless these seeds I grow, please keep them safe below," the book uses "*someone* bless these seeds I sow, please warm them from below." With a quick web search, I was surprised to find that John Denver used, "someone" instead of "please" and in fact was originally written in 1975 by David Mallett that way. I hadn't heard that version before and I find it difficult to sing to. Other than that the pictures are sweet.BOTTOM LINEIf you sing the Mallett/John Denver version of the song with, "someone," I highly recommend it. If you are looking for the version with, "please" as sung by Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie, this book may throw you off the way it did me.

Always been a favorite when teaching children about gardening. I love the song and I love this book even more.

What a cute book for a sweet song! Came in perfect, brand new condition. My students absolutely love it and request I read/sing it with them often. They know almost all the words already and love to sing along. They especially love the page with the giant beet/radish!

The song that provides the text for this book was an instant classic. Its beautiful and simple melody is easily learned by folks of all ages. The illustrations perfectly invoke the joy of spring with an exhuberant little character. My boys loved this one and learned every word so they could sing along - even when they got old enough to be "too cool" for picture books.If you want to have a lot of fun singing with your little one, this book is great.

This book was an exceptionally wonderful find for me as it was a song that my children learned when they were very young. It held very special memories for them and for myself as well. So to find it in book form now that I am a grandmother was extra special. And the added bonus of the printed music at the end of the book is perfect as my son plays guitar and can now teach it to his own little one. I will send this with a few seed packets and some mini garden gloves for Earth Day this year.
