I'm not sure there's much difference between the magnetic clamp and just tying a knot. I don't ever underdo the magnet. The strings have plenty of stretch. I thought the magnet might be nice so they could be adjusted, but you can only adjust them tighter, not looser. If you knotted it, you could cut the knot, and re-tie it tighter.I've never had elastic laces before. Overall, my concern was that they would not stretch enough and I would have to use the clasp, I'm glad that is not the case, these are super stretchy. My other concern (on the flipside) was that the stretch would make them feel loose, and I like really tight shoes (especially to prevent heel rub). That is also good news, these are plenty tight. My shoes are actually tighter than ever, I had to loosen them twice during my week of testing (before putting the clasp on).Overall, I like them! My shoes were separating from the soles in the back because there was so much strain pulling them off. That's all fixed! I'll get these for new shoes immediately before they get beat up, next time!

I broke both feet and have to wear hard bottom walking shoes for now. The laces are always a mess and come untied often, which is a problem since I am unsteady on my feet right now and do not need to fall down. My podiatrist recommended these and they work perfectly. They even make a not so attractive shoe look a bit more stylish. Once I got the laces exactly right, I followed the instructions to trim them and install the metal magnet pieces. I can put on and take off my shoes without a hassle now. And the elastic makes the shoes fit better. Great purchase, arrived quickly with the tiniest screwdriver I have ever seen to help install the metal magnet pieces.

These were the perfect answer for a little boy who has trouble keeping his shoes tied! His shoe laces were too long and would not stay tied even when double tied. I found these laces easy to replace and the magnetic clasp easy to work. They also come in assorted colors. I bought a white pair and red pair for his red sneakers, the red was a perfect match! There is not a lot of give in the elastic but I think that’s probably good so they will last longer. He loves his shoes now that he can slip them on, match the magnetic links together and go. Fantastic solution to our problem!

When I finally got them installed right, these laces were very comfortable and the clasp is a nice design that complements any shoe.Beware, the screwdriver is magnetic but the screws are extremely tiny. Hand-eye coordination is a must for the installation of the clasp to the laces. Also, I don't know if anyone else's laces did this but mine didn't burn evenly so it ended up lopsided to put in the clasp end. I don't think it affected it too much.Good product over all if you have the coordination. Shaky hands should look elsewhere.

I've purchased a number of pairs of stretchy shoelaces to replace the usual ones ones that tie. I like that the clasp is metal rather than plastic. I've had plastic clasps break before I was even able to wear them. These take a little finesse getting them in correctly but work well when put in place.

They are a little tricky to install, but directions are clear. They look good and they work well. How durable is yet to be experienced. I do like the magnetic closure.

I was overthinking the process of cutting the laces and placing the magnetic attachments on the ends, but the process ended up taking me maybe 10 minutes, at most. I think they look awesome on my Adidas Sambas, and the elastic laces actually make the shoe WAY easier to slide on and off of my foot, while still holding the tightness that I like.I don’t play around with my laces, ever, but I could see myself buying this again if it makes sense for other shoes.
