Definitely drains!
I needed dirt that actually drains-- not dirt that just says it drains, then sits there like a sopping wet sponge for weeks on end. My poor tropical houseplants were languishing after I transplanted them into coconut noir (which is a draining disaster). Be aware that different plants have different preferences, so look up your specific species before you try cactus soil. I was fed up trying to find well draining soil that didn't have bugs and didn't only come in truckloads. This sack was the perfect amount for two 13 cm pots and was nice and light with sand and gravel mixed in. Yes, you could make your own, but I don't have a way to store all the leftovers. When I watered after repotting, the water flushed right through, just like I wanted. Now I feel like my plants can breathe again. My fern is actually thriving in the wetness, so I left it alone, but my palms and corn plant were quietly protesting. I'm eager to see how they get on now that their little toes aren't constantly submerged. Definitely recommend for those who want soil that is truly "well draining".
