Sweet novella
To enjoy this book, you will have to believe in fated love and love at first sight.Fyclan Morris was told years ago by his grandmother that he was meant for greatness and would marry the love of his life and his children's children would be Dukes and Princes.Fyclan sees Jenny walking down the street and instantly knows she is the "one", his destiny. For her part Jenny is attracted to Fyclan - but her family has plans for her that do not include marrying an Irishman and her father's nemesis to boot.Their attraction seems to be a tragedy in the making. When Fyclan is forbidden to call on Jenny they begin a clandestine courtship through letters. They grow deeper in love and finally Fyclan confronts her father. Again he is denied - but this time Jenny stands up for herself. They elope to Scotland and never look back. This book is a sweet love story and sets up Ms. Maxwell's new series perfectly. I would recommend this novella, especially if you are planning on reading the new series.

A nice size for a stocking stuffer! Hooked me on reading her new trilogy.
I love Cathy Maxwell romances when they are her good ones. Have a whole brown cardboard box full from my book club days. I know, therefore, that she is capable of some seriously boring duds. This one is not great, but certainly not awful either. I suppose my problem is that I prefer it when she adds a little mystery and suspense. This is strictly a romance, and since we know all romances today are HEA, there wasn't much for twists or turns, or action. I found it a little slow, but still entertaining. And my appreciation for it comes from the fact that it's a setup for her new trilogy, and I have already ordered the first one, which my Mom might take when it comes in, to give me for Christmas. Also, being a novella, this is a very short book, 98 pages, and then an excerpt from THE MATCH OF THE CENTURY, the first book in new trilogy. Recommend for fast, light HEA.

A great love was foretold, but at first sight?
We read about the luck of the Irish and it would appear that Fyclan Morris had it in abundance when it came to looks, finance, and most of all love! He would need it all when he saw and was immediately taken with the daughter of his former subordinate Colonel Tarleton, Jennifer! Of course true love will always find a way! A feel good romance, emphasizing determination, hope, trust and love! I enjoyed it entirely.ππππ

Magical
What a magical love story to start Cathy Maxwell's new series, Marrying the Duke! This is the love story of Fyclan and Jenny. Their love was foretold by Fyclan's gypsy grandmother. They share a love of books which helped bring them together. This novella can easily be read in an evening and you won't put it down. The heroine in the first book of the trilogy, "Match of the Century", is the daughter of Jenny and Fyclan. I enjoyed this novella and can't wait for Elin's story in November.

hmm, it is ok, but i guess i was expecting more from Ms Maxwell
it is a love story, and i like the fact that Fyclan acts and do as a matter of fact - Jenny is his life. It does not matter that her atrociously obnoxious family take his money but refusing to acknowledge him - as long as he is with his Jenny. Sweet isn't it. Knowing this as background to the main series makes me understand he family better. So I look forward to that.

Oh my goodness! Pages are missing.
I finally got around to reading this while on vacation. I was thoroughly enjoying it when, to my surprise, it went from page 64 to 73! So I guess I'll be returning it to get a complete book. First time this has happened to me.I've read almost all of Cathy Maxwell's book and am sure this one won't disappoint.

Save your money, skip this one.
I thought this novella silly, too rushed, there was nothing I liked about it. Also way overpriced! I was going to buy Ms. Maxwell's new book, but I read one of the reviews for it and it said to read this one first as it would set the full length one up. Needless to say I will not buy it now. There have been some books of Ms. Maxwell that I have really enjoyed and a couple like this one, real stinkers!
