I have used an expensive German DE safety razor for some time, but this Ernest James has all the characteristics I knew were lacking from the German one. It is also half the price.The handle is longer, and is engraved, which makes holding it and controlling it so much easier.The butterfly mechanism is robust, and allows easier washing and drying than a 3-piece razor.Loading the razor blade is much safer and easier than with a 3-piece.Because of the extra control of the razor, my shaves are faster and just as smooth as my previous one.

I have been using DE razors for a few years now and have tried other razors, my last one was a parker and within 2 months the black paint came off the handle and is now in the bin.This is a very well made razor, really easy to use and load new blades. The weight is perfect and the shave is close without being too aggressive, overall an excellent shave.The chrome finish is really nice with the head of the razor being a slightly matte finish, really compliments the stand I have.I would highly recommend this razor to both experienced and novice shavers, superb bit of kit

Robust, beautiful and offers effortless balance.Pros:+ Robust and sturdy+ Texture of handle is pleasant to hold and eliminates risk of slipping+ Beautiful design and there are no ugly logos or engravings+ Well balanced and high quality+ As this is emerging brand you will get same value as you would get from Merkur and others for a lot less money.+ Origin is of England. So that's another plus.Cons:- Can be aggressive for some people so please use mild razor blades.

Nice enough razor in terms of build quality and value. Shaves very aggressively and needs a fairly mild blade!

The Earnest James "Spear of Odin" butterfly razor looks fantastic and feels very nice in the hand, not the heaviest and slightly longer than my inherited double edged safety razor, but this does not affect the quality of the shave. i would say medium aggressive for the cut which is ok for me and i just like the action of butterfly razors, very solid and no rattles when closed. This will last a lifetime and as a bonus its the green option too.

I have been an electric shaver user for years before recently turning to disposable razors. Always thoughtful for the environment I decided to give this a go to reduce plastic waste. I have not been disappointed. I have never had a closer shave and the cost has dropped too. I will never go back.Two things to be aware of however. You need a razor blade disposal bin to safely hold used blades. Purchase this with the razor to avoid the problem of where to put them until one arrives. You also need to be aware that you will probably have nicks on the skin for a few days while you learn a new way of shaving.The razor itself is well made, ideally weighted and looks as if it were more expensive that its modest price tag.All in all top marks from me.

I was looking for a well made all metal razor that felt substantial in the hand, with a longish handle and I am very pleased with this one , for price and quality, its been machined so it won't slip in your hand, it looks and feels really good and gives a great shave, it opens smoothly and easy to replace the blade and keep clean, a classic looking razor made with high quality materials at a great price. Well worth it.
