Good smoker for the price.
I was hesitant in ordering since reading some of the negative reviews but this was my first smoke box and I didn't want to spend too much on it. I'm still debating if I want to get a smoker but I figure I would give this a try first with my gas grill.Pros:-Stainless steel-I've only used it 4 times but 3 of the times created ample amount of smoke. Just make sure you put it under the grates or it won't get hot enough. I don't wet the chips since my cook time is so short.-Holds enough chips (cooked salmon on the top rack).-Has not warped yet-Good PriceCons:-No cons at the moment.

Great box, works very well, wish it had a hinge/handle type deal
Awesome little box, insanely good price. Might fab a handle for it or some sort of hinge thing. I can't complain, I mean it does exactly what you would want it to, and appears it will last quite a while, but ya - if you have to add more wood chips to it while it's hot, it's a bit annoying to line up/get the top right back onto it easily with a pair of tongs or something - other than that, perfect product - wish I got this a long time ago. Even throwing some chips in and smoking some stuff for like 30 minutes adds a ton of flavor to really any meat.

I think I like it
I've only had one opportunity to use this smoker box so I can't really give a lot of impressions. It seems to be well made and a good value for the price. Last night I used it to make baby back ribs on my Weber Spirit grill. I'm new to Weber, and this was my first rack of ribs so I'm sort of feeling my way.I rested the box on top of the flavorizer bars, putting it there after the grill's 10 minute warmup on high. It took quite a while for the smoke to start so next time I'll put it in there during the warmup. The ribs came out nice and smoky, so I'm happy.

Smoke lasts for hours.
This box puts out some great smoke, I use it on my gas grill, with inderct heat, makes a great smoker.

Great Wood Holder for Smoker Wood
Heavy gauge stainless that will allow your wood chips to smoke without flaming up.Your only limitation is that the box is about 1 inch thick so you will NOT be able to put large hunks of wood into it. I have an electric Brinkman that has a flat metal plate over the heating element from which the wood always falls (or at least 50% of it) into the bottom of the smoker. This smoker box is small enough to go on top of the heating element but under the water pan.It has no hinges so it opens easy UNLESS IT IS HOT. TO MAKE FUNCTIONAL, UNLESS YOU ARE DOING A QUICK SMOKE, YOU NEED TO BUY 2 OF THESE. Why, you need to fill one and place on/near heat source. When smoke stops emanating, take a pair of BBQ tongs and remove it to cool off. While cooling, take your second filled chip box and place on heating source and close door. Refill the other box when cool, and it will be ready to use.If I were going to use a larger chunk wood in a place that did not limit size, I would just cover with heavy foil to keep wood from flaring up and burning.Hope this helps.

Ok when it smokes, requires higher temps
I bought this and tried it out while trying to smoke a rack of ribs and beer can chicken over a time period of about 5-6hrs. This would smoke if I turned the temp up to about 400 degrees (which is too high of a temp for the smoking I was trying to do), but as soon as I turned the temp back down the smoke would stop..so I was never able to keep it smoking like it should. It was pretty frustrating constantly adjusting the temperature of the grill in order to get some smoke out of it.From what I have heard, its best to a use a tube smoker for lower temp smoking. If you are just grilling burgers or other meats at higher temps, then this might be fine for you.Pros:- Well made, high quality metal.- Ok for just using with burgers or other high temp cooking.Cons:- It doesn't smoke at lower temps, so you have to keep the temp around 350-400 degrees or higher to keep the smoke flowing.

Quality wise this is a great box. I've gotten it extremely hot and it still holds up in shape...no warping. Was a little worried about that at first, but no problems. Lid still fits well and the box is still flat on the bottom.I'm a little disappointed in the outcome. I thought I would get a much better flavor using this in conjunction with my gas grill. Nothing compares to charcoal.
