This seems like a fake to me
I have purchased and used Danncy vanilla many times before. I recently ran out and ordered this product. This seems like a fake to me. I was first suspicious when I noticed the bottles appeared overfilled. Then, when opened, the smell was off from other Danncy vanillas I have used. But the deciding factor is the taste. I just made a pie that I've made every Thanksgiving and Christmas for the last 15 years or more. The taste is completely off. I tasted the chocolate pie filling an hour ago, and I still have a horrible aftertaste in my mouth. I'm going to have to throw out the pie I just made, and make another NOT using this vanilla (or whatever it is). When attempting to start the refund process a message popped up saying it is not eligible for return. I've emailed customer service. I hope they do the right thing and give me a refund, because this stuff is inedible.

This is NOT Vanilla!
I read reviews before I make a purchase. I rely heavily on reviews because I trust that others experiences with products can make or break a sale. Having said that, I am an avid baker for over 30 years now and I use a lot of vanilla. And with the prices of vanilla beans being so high, it's hard to afford extract on a limited budget. When I first saw this Danny Mexican Vanilla I read many of the reviews and the first time I passed on it even though it was so reasonable and so abundant. Always remember one key phrase when buying anything... You get what you pay for. This is NOT Vanilla! Not even remotely smells like vanilla. It smells like a mix of turpentine and antifreeze. I couldn't get that odor out of my nose and I second guessed my fellow reviewers. My apologies! I have no idea what is in those two large water bottles, but I am positive that it is NOT Vanilla. Be warned, if someone says that they have used it for years or mom and grandmom did then they have never used REAL vanilla or even know what it is supposed to taste and smell like. So the price may look good, but you will be wasting your hard earned money just to save some money. Sorry, but I can't in good conscience recommend this product.

I'll just have to live with poor quality vanilla until the prices get more reasonable again
This vanilla tastes VERY weak, watered down. It's water based rather than alcohol so it doesn't have any punch. I guess you get what you pay for, but with true vanilla extract at astronomical prices (up over 500% in the last year), I'll just have to live with poor quality vanilla until the prices get more reasonable again.

as I love to bake as a hobby
I was originally so thrilled to find "PURE" vanilla at such a reasonable price, as I love to bake as a hobby. Unfortunately, this past weekend was the first time that I tried this product, and there is NO WAY THIS IS PURE VANILLA! Not only is it a watered-down product, but my imitation vanilla has more of a vanilla flavor than this product. I am VERY disappointed in this product.

Yuk!
The color is the same, but the flavor definitely is NOT the same!!! They've diluted it!!! I've been buying this Danncy dark vanilla for 40 years. This is not the good stuff!!!!

THE BEST Vanilla - period!
100% pure vanilla that tastes like no other vanilla I've ever used, little taste of heaven! Put just a dab or two in cream while whipping, and the flavor goes up 1000%. It isn't overpowering, just enhances the flavor. There is no comparison between this vanilla and "store bought" kind or even other Mexican vanillas. I would use 1/2 the amount called for in recipes, but since the bottles come in pairs, go ahead and use the full measurement. :) As an old TV commercial used to say, "Try it- you'll like it!".

which is important for a product that is either loved or hated
I purchased the two bottles from seller DanImports because I saw that they answered a question indicating they have a money back guarantee, which is important for a product that is either loved or hated. The plastic bottles the extract comes in is very thin and a tad flimsy (don't squeeze too hard when picking up), hence one less star. However, the taste itself is good! I'm using the extract in cheesecakes I bake and sell. I've used this vanilla in a variety of flavors and it didn't negatively alter the taste. If anything, I feel like it enhanced the taste of the cheesecakes! Three of us tasted the batter raw (w/o eggs) and then after it was baked, no funny artificial after-taste another viewer mentioned.Compared to the popular McCormick brand, the Danncy extract appears to be thinner and more watery in consistency. It also has a nauseatingly strong smell, until you get used to it. Don't bother doing a smell comparison – the McCormick pure vanilla extract contains alcohol while the Danncy extract doesn't.I'm no vanilla expert but for the price and amount I use weekly, I can comfortably say you get your money's worth with this buy.

Not too thrilled with this extract
Not too happy with this extract. I thought it was pure vanilla extract but it isn’t. I knew it was Mexican extract and it would be a little different than the usual vanilla extract that I buy but it’s so thin (made with water) and has a kind of weird taste. It has other flavorings in it besides vanilla beans.

Pure Vanilla Extract!
I love the taste and consistency of this vanilla and the fact that it is actually pure vanilla! Great for all my baking needs. Love, love, love!
