B-29 Superfortress - Color Walk Around No. 54

Would have liked very much if it would have been re-tooled to have the riveting!! Lot of work ahead. And disappointed in the high price for an OLD model!

Great pictures and very informative.

This is as close as most of us will ever get to the inside of a B29. In addition to the great color photos, there are line drawings, Air Force Markings, paint schemes. The photos show the crew positions, bomb bay, turrets, engines, propellers, the captions tell you what you're looking at in very clear, concise terms.Most of the narrative concerns one particular B-29, "Jack's Mack" which is actually parts of six salvaged B-29s restored to perfect condition. There is also a page covering survivors (only 24 planes left out of almost 4,000 made). My one wish is that they had shown how the remote turrets worked...or didn't - they were very complicated devices for their day, photos are shown of some of the mechanisms, but this was one area not addressed well. A small observation, this is not a technical manual.It is, however, an excellent tribute not only to those who built, flew or maintained these amazing planes, but those who were dedicated enough to bring one back to such a pristine condition.

Nice walkaround with plenty of photos. Valuable for modelers as well as for fans of this aircraft.
