Needs good quality eyepiece
Not a bad 3X Barlow for the price, but needs good quality eyepieces to match. Used with a couple of budget Skywatcher eyepieces (15mm and 10mm) the limitations seemed to add up. I wouldn't consider this combination for anything demanding. Swapping to a Celestron Ultima, things improved, but then I'd probably partner this with a better Barlow, so it's a puzzle just where this one sits.

Does the job!
I'm very new to telescopes etc. so I just wanted a cheap solution for the time being for my AstroMaster 130eq. Does a great job with the 2 eyepieces that came with the scope. However the main reason I bought this was to draw out the focus for my SLR, as using just the t-ring adapter means I can't focus in enough on this scope, and I didn't want to physically shorten the tube. I can say that the Barlow lens works well for this and I can achieve focus on my SLR, pics look great (for a super amateur!)

good quality
really nice robust easy to use barlow nice optics.however its not consistant (temp?) get a lot of double vision over various eyepieces, but luckily can unscrew from metal tube and use the short version on its own just fine.

cloudy optics
I loved to look of this Barlow. Unfortunately when fitted to my scope for photography an Umbra like ghosting appeared right in the field of view. I tried several eyepieces and different days, all with the same cloudy patch in the same place. had a good look at the lenses with a 30x inspection magnifier and could see no obvious smears. The surfaces were clean. i am guessing that the coatings were just a bit off. Shame really and i don't think that this is usual, just that I was unlucky.

Good quality
Bought quite a few SVbony items now and all I can say is that they are very well made and of excellent quality, the 2x Barlow is no exception and replaces one I lost somewhere- this one is better than the one I lost.

Great but one small niggle
I had some solid eyepiece recommendations and this Barlow was included in those recommendations.I have to say tha I'm happy with it optically, it's solid yet lightweight, it looks very nice and it has that nice brass clamping ring to save eyepiece damage. Also it's possible with this type to remove the extension tube and use the lens section alone for a lower magnification of approx 1.5x. However in practice this may need some height adjustments in the focusser (how high the eyepiece / barlow combo sit in the focusser) to achieve focus. It's much easier to keep it together and use as a 2x, as intended. It couldn't be easier. My one concern is that within the aluminium finished upper part, or extension, the inside have not been blackened. This may introduce internal reflections which reduce contrast.I did not give it a chance to test whether this is the case as before I even tried it in the scope, I applied sanded black pvc tape to the inside.Aside from having to do that for myself, I am happy with this Barlow lens and it's optics.I am NOT into astro-imaging and am very inexperienced.I use an 8" Newtonian reflector at F/5 ratio. I'm aware that the scope itself causes coma toward the outside of the image. With my untrained eye, I can't see this Barlow causing any additional problems.I am still using my baby eyepieces (Skywatcher type "Super 20" * "Super 10" MA's).I have a set of Plössls on order and will update if anything changes...
