I feel a bit silly buying these, but they serve such a useful purpose. Around the house, I use a manual wheelchair, foot propelled. I also have diabetes, which means that I have to protect my feet from getting ulcer wounds. The reason why I bought these shoes is that it's nearly impossible to keep slippers on my feet, because when I back up, the darn things just stay on the floor. I need something with elastic that will keep slippers in place, and these crisscross at the ankle. I bought a bigger size, so my toes aren't constricted. The drawstring is elastic and adjustable, so I can loosen them on days when my feet swell with fluid (edema). The leather is tough, but breathable.Yes, caregivers wonder if I've lost my mind and think I'm a ballerina, but then I explain the features of the slippers, and they agree the slippers are great!
