The right tool
The right tool for the job. I have two belts that needed to be adjusted. I used this hole puncher and made a perfect hole where I wanted. Sharp and easy to use. You just have to be patient and precise where to punch a hole. Find the right size and you can even mix the sizes so that you can make similar holes like the original ones. It came without defects. It’s a keeper.

Awesome!
I bought this to add holes to my wife's Birkenstocks and my belts. Works great and American made.

Handy Tool
My dad had one of these when I was younger. So when I recently lost a bunch of weight, instead of throwing out my current belts and buying all new ones, I thought of searching for one of these. There were several options and this one seemed to be the best value. When I got it, it worked as advertised. Another reviewer suggested putting a piece of denim under the belt. I think that is a good suggestion. It makes it easier to punch through the leather and will probably prolong the life of the punch. The cost of this tool is about half of what I spend on a single belt. I was able to save 7-8 belts. Nice!

Sturdy construction, easy to use!
This is a well constructed revolving punch. It works fine ... although I have so far used it solely for punching holes in leather belts. One piece of advice that I got from a tailor who has used these revolving punches since the 1970's ...To prolong the sharpness of the punch edges, put a small piece of strong cloth (denim works fine) above the striker plate (under the leather to be punched). If you inadvertently apply too much force, the punch would bore through the leather and the impact absorbed by the cloth pad above the striker plate. (You would now be 'over-punching' through the leather belt into the cloth pad - instead of 'crashing' the punch against the metal base).SEE MY PHOTOS IN CUSTOMER IMAGESTIP: For those really tough punch hole jobs, I use this technique ...Hold the lower handle (the one with the striker plate) firmly on a flat surface (like a wooden work table). With the lower punch handle anchored on the table top, I simply have to press ONLY the upper handle to bring down the revolving punch head. Using this technique, I can now punch holes in my thick leather belts with less effort!Hope these tips are helpful ...

This Punch Easily Makes Nice, Crisp Holes in Leather
I wanted a second leather punch, so I bought one at a local chain home improvement store. I got it home and discovered it wouldn't punch holes in leather. There are several on Amazon, so I looked until I found one just like my 40+ year old leather punch which still works just fine. My old one is a "Sears" brand and is stamped "Made in England". This Osborne punch is identical except for the "Sears" brand stamped on the outside of the two handles and the "Made in England" on the wheel to which the punches are attached. Also, my old one doesn't have the small lever on the side of one handle that holds it partially closed. My old one has served me well, and I think this one will tool. There are six punches on the rotating wheel from about 1/8" to 1/4". Both my old and this new one punch a nice clean hole in thin leather as well as thick and cleanly separates the punched circle by retaining inside the punch. I also use it to punch holes in nylon webbing where it does a great job as well. I know there are other punches available for less money, but with the track record of this model, I wasn't going to take a chance of another one that doesn't work.

A tip for use
I got this to make more holes in leather belts. The tool worked great on the first two belts- a good squeeze and there was a perfect hole. However, on the third, thicker (and layered?) belt I couldn't get the punch to go all the way through, even when turning it over, etc. It seemed a design flaw to me that the punch doesn't go THROUGH the other side of the tool, it only presses against it. I decided to try placing a metal nut (found a crossbar mounting bracket first and used that) on top of the strike plate so the punch could pass through, and viola! went through right away. So, with a little finagling I think this will work for all my belts.

A great punch at a good price
This Osborne punch is extremely well made. The first one that I owned was purchased in the 1970's and this one is made exactly like that! I have many other tools from Osborne. They range in age from 5 to 45 years old. All of them are sturdy, durable and a pleasure to use.
