- About this item Tucuma Butter, is pressed from kernel of the Astrocaryum tucuma palm tree. Like its “sister” Palm oil, it is possible to extract 2 distinct, but often confused between them, butter/oil from the ripe fruit of the Tucuma Palm: The first one, Tucuma Fruit Oil - is extract from the dark orange flesh of the ripe fruit. ( second picture). The yellow oil extracted from the flesh of the Tucuma fruit has one of the highest concentrations of pro vitamin A "beta-carotene" (52 milligrams per 100 g pulp) found in the vegetable species. It contains a much higher content of vitamin A than that of found on carrots which is 6.6 milligrams/100 g pulp. Our body converts "beta-carotene" into retinol, an active form of vitamin A which is known for its antioxidant properties. Vitamin A nourishes our skin and repair sun damage. The second is Tucuma kernel butter is the one which most people know. This off white butter is extracted from the kernel of the Tucuma fruit. (first picture). The white butter is a rich source of Palmitic, Stearic, oleic and linoleic acids - crucial in healthy cell development, regulation of the immune system, metabolic regulation and maintenance of healthy skin and hair. It is an excellent moisturizing and emollient butter. Unrefined Tucuma Kernel butter has excellent emollient properties due to its high levels of Lauric, Myristic, and Oleic fatty Acids. Used in a formulation Tucuma Butterhelps to improve emulsion stability and thickness. Perfect for all of your bath and body products.
