Early, underrated days of South Park
Most people, including Trey Parker and Matt Stone themselves, think this is the worst season of South Park....and it is. However, that's like trying to name Christopher Nolan's worst film even though it's still terrific.True, the show really started coming together around the third season and the rest is history; South Park is now entering it's fifteenth run of shows and seems to just keep getting better with age. The kind of brilliant social and political satire that has become a staple of the adult cartoon wasn't as apparent in the first two seasons. In this batch of shows, for example, there aren't many celebrity parodies or biting pokes at religion. Instead, we have Mr. Garrison trying to decide which hand puppet he should spend the rest of his life with; Underpants Gnomes are determined that if they steal underwear they will somehow collect a profit, and the Chickenlover certainly has twisted ways of teaching children "the magic of reading."These early shows are more focused on the bizarre characters that inhabit the zany world of South Park and some of the episodes rank among my very favorites. Sure, in recent years you can count on Trey and Matt to give a good roasting of everyone and every current event imaginable but sometimes it's nice as a South Park fan to go back and check out the shows that didn't really have anything to say...they just wanted to tickle your funny bone and believe me, they do.

One of my three favorite seasons of this brilliant series!
Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the warped geniuses behind this proudly gross yet brilliant, hilarious and eminently rewatchable series, once noted that they don't like any of the first three seasons of South Park. With all due respect to the talented gentlemen who brought us one of my top series of all time, I have to disagree. This season is actually among my very favorites overall. Sure, like all South park seasons, there are a few episodes that don't work for me. (I guess this is where I shamefully confess that I'm not a Terrance and Philip fan and tend to skip those episodes!) Season 2 also, however, contains some of my very favorite episodes. There's an almost sweet nostalgia to rewatching these earlier seasons of the show, and they have a dash of real heart mixed in with the sneakily thought-provoking insights and scathing humor. Episodes like Chickenlover, City on the Edge of Forever, Spookyfish and Gnomes are all still among my favorite of the show's long and illustrious run. So this is the one instance where you shouldn't listen to Trey Parker and Matt Stone---I'd highly recommend that you buy this reasonably priced second season no matter how critical the creators were of their own work :)

Best Show!
South park will always hold a special place in my heart. Ever since that first episode, I've been hooked. I will say the recent seasons have dropped in quality, but the first 10 seasons are AMAZING. I had to buy the actual DVDs because I need to be able to watch this whenever, where ever. And I have actually used this so much. I've had marathons, I've lent it to friends for marathons. I've used it to inspire friends to love South Park as much as me. I'ld say which episode is my favorite, but I can't choose! It's also cool because this season has an alien easter egg on one of the episode select screens (that's all I'll say; you need to find it yourself)

Swee-t
Sweeeeeet ( ββ ) just hate how two of the episodes in the second disc didn't show, I guess it wasn't made well, it's not a scratch, I know that . But since it's only two episodes and *sighs* too lazy to bitch about it. Just letting yes know. I may have been a unlucky person on this one.

Wonderful product & exceptional seller
Being a SP fan, always wanted to get the DVD sets and always hesitated due to the price of each season in retail or from spstudios site. But,like always Amazon is Amazing place to buy new & used stuff @ unbelievable prices.Initially I thought the quality of the used dvd set would be so-so.But, when I opened the packaging, saw that it was factory sealed and looks brand new.Not sure if its really new or used.Unable to tell the difference.I am forced to assume its new and the seller is being too modest;Else its a used dvd set in an exceptional condition which got packaged beautifully. Either way, the product is in awesome condition.Havent yet opened the seal. But will update this post with new details after opening it.

Must own for any fan
The second season is like the best South Park season their is it's just the best! You don't get too see any of these on tv anymore or even any of the older episodes. It seems as if anything after the 4th season is all that they play but nothing before. But 1-4 are THE BEST. Cmon really,CHEF AID,CONJOINED FETUS LADY,IKES WEE WEE,GNOMES. You don't get that humor in todays South Park. If you are an oldschool fan and you know what i mean i suggest you pick em up cuz they are great !

Maintaining Good Form
After the iconic first season of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone had their work cut out to make a second season that was just as good. But they managed to maintain good form and the South Park Season Two DVD box set is a worthy purchase. All eighteen episodes from the second season of the Comedy Central hit are here, starting with "Not Without My Anus," a special episode starring Canadians Terrence and Phillip. A lot of fans were angered when this episode first aired in he US, with everyone expecting the concluding part of the Cartman's Dad saga (Cartman's Mom Is Still A Dirty Slut). I don't know why they got upset. "Not Without My Anus" is a good episode with plenty of laughs."Chicken Lover" is an iconic episode with Cartman donning a Police Officer's uniform, a night stick and a new catchphrase "Respect my authoritah!" "City On The Edge Of Forever" (aka: Flashbacks) makes fun of flashback episodes common in TV shows. This episode has its own flashbacks, but not as you remembered them if you watched the first season. If you're looking for familiar faces in the music industry then "Chef Aid" is just the episode for you. Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny put on a concert in the hope of raising a lot of money to get their friend Chef out of a jam. The likes of Sir Elton John and Meatloaf lend a helping hand to this epic concert. The season ends with "Prehistoric Ice Man," where Stan and Kyle beat the living daylights out of each other over a man who has been frozen in ice since 1996! It also features an animal-loving Australian guy (clearly based on the late Steve Irwin) who likes to stick his thumb in places where the sun doesn't shine, and is an inspiration to Cartman. It's a very good episode and an ideal way to finish the season.Season two does have a couple of downsides. It contains a couple of poor episodes, like "Chickenpox" which is lacking in laughs, and "Clubhouses" where Stan's parents have a pointless temporary breakup. The Extra's section only has one item, although it is a good one. The music video for Chef's song "Salty Chocolate Balls."The South Park Season Two DVD is 5-star quality, and will nestle nicely next to your season one box set if you already have it.

Irreverent humour
A very funny set of episodes from an early series. Very difficult to pick the best episodes but I did not think much of the Terrance and Phillip in not Without My Anus episode. I liked the English subtitles because some of the speech is hard to understand sometimes. It seems that some series have subtitles and others do not, depending on who the distributor is and whether it is an original issue or a repackage. I did not care much for the introductions by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They did tend to grate a bit after a while. Anyway, this DVD set still makes for some entertaining viewing.

Classic season
Season 2 is a great season filled with classic episodes which were the foundations for what an excellent show South Park is today. If you have become a fan during the more recent seasons, however, this and other earlier seasons may come across as simpler and less risque than what you might come to expect from South Park.I think it is fair to say that in the earlier days of of the show, there was less of a focus on current affairs and celebrity mockings which we have all loved in the newer shows. More emphasis was on novel ideas early in the shows history i.e. a man making love to chickens in order to help an illiterate police officer learn how to read. Older episodes, such as those in Season 2, may not have the biting, unpolitically correct themes that people who have only seen recent seasons have no doubt grown to love.Despite this, this is still a classic season which deserves to be watched by all fans of South Park. You can tell from this season how Trey Parker and Matt Stone (and everyone else working on the show) have honed and polished the show into the beast it is today.

Please note if you buy from the "used" option make ...
Please note if you buy from the "used" option make sure it is not a US import... I bought it from MusicMagpie and there were US region encoded and did not work on my XBOX! I'm not rating the series though, of course that would get 5 stars βΊ

Chicken lover!!
I personally believe this to be an improvement on the original series. Chicken Lover is a classic and the shoddy animation is vastly improved...all though it is still South Park style. A great series from a great comedy! Respect my authori'tah!!!
