Great Product
This inexpensive motor panning head does exactly what I want it to do.I will primarily use it with my iPhone and this tripod mount adapter. Vastar Universal Smartphone Tripod Adapter Cell Phone Holder Mount Adapter, Fits iPhone, Samsung, and all Phones, Rotates Vertical and Horizontal, Adjustable Clamp I've tested it and it works great for panning videos on the Normal speed (1080p 60fps) and for panoramas using the iPhone's Pano camera function. It's great for making the automatic panoramas but you'll need a tripod adapter like the one above that allows the phone to be mounted vertically (portrait mode). Panos on the iPhone require this vertical orientation.Although some reviews have mentioned that the panning head introduces too much noise into panning videos, I noticed very little. However, having the iPhone mounted in a tripod adapter that has rubber padding in the phone holder might have something to do with reducing noise. Mounting something like a point-and-shoot or GoPro directly to the panning head would probably introduce more noise. In this case, the camera is also closer to the panning head than when using the iPhone adapter. For my purposes, the small amount of noise from the head won't make any difference since I'll probably dub music to most of my videos. It doesn't make much sense to me to be recording audio while panning, with the microphone continuously changing direction and the probability that the audio source (people's voices) are coming from all directions. But I intend to experiment with that. For timelapse, it would be nice to have a couple of faster and slower speeds but I don't want to have to spend considerably more money to get it.UPDATE: After mounting a GoPro Hero 5 Session directly to the panning head (with tripod adapter), the audio while panning video was VERY noisy. Huge difference between that and the iPhone I tested earlier. My suggestion is that if you want to mount a camera and not experience the noise, you MUST get the camera up off the panning head as much as possible. For a GoPro or other small camera, something like the GoPro Handler or Gooseneck should work -- anything with a male and female tripod screw and of a few inches in length. Or record your audio separately and mix in post.

Works well, a few improvement suggestions though.
Overall I'm happy and it worked well but gave it a 4 for the following improvement areas:1. The 'on' button sticks out so it accidentally turns on while in your backpack - this has caused the charge to run out while in transit.2. It would be nice to know how charged it is - a red led illuminates when charging but I never knew if it took 20 minutes or 10 hours to charge. It would be great if it went green when fully charged and went yellow when running out or something.3. I wish the time lapse setting was even slower. I think an extra slow setting would be nice to allow a quarter turn in an hour or something.

My new favorite gadget!
This is my new favorite gadget! I've evaluated several GoPro motorized time lapse heads and decided on this one based on its versatility and price. I've shot several time lapse videos with this since purchasing it and have to say that I'm very pleased with all the options it offers. Make no mistake your DSLR is not intended to be paired with this product. It is however optimal for your smart phone or action cam. The head mounts to the quarter inch accessories of your go Pro and has a female quarter-inch receiver that you can easily mount to your tripod. It doesn't come with instructions but the diagrams on the face of the unit are fairly intuitive.it features three variable speeds including time lapse which when paired with my go Pro yielded some very impressive results. It's reasonably priced and has the benefit Of being powered by internal batteries that you can recharge it with a micro USB cable which is provided. All in all, fun in handy gadget to add to your repertoire

little, light, simple and functional in a budget.
yes, it would be great if this could rotate even more slower. But I see this item as an in between the simple single-side mechanical rotating head and upper electronic products that are fully configurable but more bulky and way more expensive. This head fits in most budgets while providing a portable and simple solution for booth sides panning at a useful diversity of speeds.I love this little product.UPDATEafter using it a lot, I am not that convinced of this device anymore (I am taking two stars from the original post). When I do a long time panning, I find quite often some "jumps" or glitches on the camera move. For short timelapses it is ok. I can always edit them. But for long timelapses this device has serious issues and has damaged several productions with the glitches. This is the only device I have of this product, so I cannot say if these issues are just with mine or a general manufacturing problem.I am keeping it because it was affordable and does good short timelapses.
