Perfect for restoring the surface of my salvaged outdoor garden fountain!
I bought an old garden wall fountain that had several deep cracks and patched the cracks with stucco, but, the stucco surface was too coarse and rough. I bought this ultra smooth SculptCrete to try to smooth it out, and it worked great! I mixed it a little thin and layered it on top of the material I had already put down. It was just what it needed. The fountain had previously been painted and had a lovely weathered patina that I didn’t want to cover up by repainting the whole thing, so, once I got the texture right, the real challenge was to match the existing paint. It was a lot of work but think it turned out really well!

Difficult to get ratio
When you get the water-to-clay powder ratio right, this product is easy to use and molds well. It dries as advertised and doesn't require curing in the oven. However, achieving the correct ratio can be quite challenging. I often add too much water initially, then compensate by adding more powder, which leads to an excess of powder. Trying to balance this by adding more water starts the cycle again. Consequently, I used up this product fairly quickly due to this difficulty. Despite the ratio challenge, once it dries, the quality is excellent, with minimal cracking or breaking, and is quite smooth to the touch.

Wear a real high quality dust mask
I wore a mask but you need a real n-95 mask. My lungs hurt fit days. And my eyes. Probably need goggles or a face mask

not worth the price hike
I liked these products and thought they were expensive, but the last time I ordered there was an 80% increase. I'm out. Buy a box of Quickrete and play with some additives.

Fun stuff! Use a mold or armature for best results.
This is fun to use! I find it's easier to use it on an armature, like wire or aluminum foil than just straight building with it. But it's pretty easy to sculpt, or mush. If you use it in a silicone mold, it comes out really, really smooth (see the shine on the dome?). You can also sand it, and I think that makes it look more like a ceramic item. I have not really tested its waterproofness or its strength yet, although it is not as strong as QuikCureClay.

Item works well
The item works well, but when mixing it with water it has a weird bubbly consistency and was hard to fine tune the amount of water to add. My suggestion is to add very slowly so you don't overshoot the amount of water. You can always add more water but is wasteful if you have to add more product to compensate.
