Pulls you in and keeps you reading
Recommended for anyone who loves a good fantasy adventure ! The characters are introduced one at a time so you get to know them and are invested in their story, but it does not slow the book at all. It does jump between storylines every few chapters, but I am assuming they will all merge at some point... probably the final battle to determine the fate of the world. But that must be in the next volume. I would not call this a cliffhanger ending, but more just a nice resting place before starting volume two.I enjoyed seeing the growth in our characters, nieve eyes opened to the real world and friendships formed between unlikely allies. You cheer for Brigid's strength, find the good in the necromancer Silas and worry for the darkness growing in our hero Yaz. The story keeps you moving forward and I had to force myself to put it down and go to bed after realizing how close it was to morning already. My only critique, and the reason for 4 star instead of 5, is the occasional use of modern slang and regional phrases that drop you out of the world building for a moment. Phraes like someone " fixing" your favorite dinner, getting "pissed off" by someone or calling an unruly child " a little s**t ". These were notice primarily in the early part of the series, less toward the end of the volume. These are also the only instance of even remotely crude language in the series. The story is clean .... No profanity, no sex or "romantic situations". Violence against women is only hinted at . Even the fighting is clean ( still prevalent , and occasionaly sadistic, but without gory descriptions ). Written for adults, but still suitable for teens. Buying volume two now (as soon as I post this review) to finish the story and see how they save the world.

Engaging and the stories move along fast
I do enjoy how this author switches character story lines, the flow is barely interrupted as he moves from hero to hero, and back again, and a big plus for me is that each character hero has a storyline equally compelling, so there is no rushing through chapters to get back to the story of a preferred character. Overall, the main story still has a great deal to reveal and so the rest of the books hopefully will be as well written and interesting. Not as many Dragons as I expected from the title or the beginning, but I have hopes that may change.

Well Written
Throughly enjoyable story that holds your interest and is well worth reading. Love the characters Looking forward to seeing implied powers emerge from one of the characters in the next volume.

Best fantasy series I've read in a long time
Fast moving, great characters, good plots. I like they way the author gives us the point of view of each of the main characters, including the villains. Great job.

I really enjoyed this series. Had great characters. You liked the good guys and hated the bad guys. The story line carried well from book to book, so the you wanted to start the next one as soon as you finished the last one,
