BulletScan S400
This scanner performed satisfactorily until one month past the warranty at which time it failed. Tech support said that it was probably a sensor failure and they would repair it for $60 plus S&H. The scanner was used exclusively in a home environment and has less than 3K scans run through it. There are reviews of other scanners being used in small offices lasting six years or more so I am very disappointed to say the least. I will look for a scanner that has a longer life expectancy than this one. I paid Amazon $360 for the Bulletscan thinking I was getting a better unit, unfortunately, it proved not to be. Hope others have better luck with theirs.

Scanner issues cause deletions of edge(s)
I am using Windows 7 64bit version. I have had three of these scanners now and every one of them intermittently cuts off the right side of the page as if it is reading the document as a custom size. At first it was most evident when scanning to PDF files, but then began in TIF as well. Rebooting the computer, cycling power to the scanner and un/reinstalling software has not fixed the issue. All of the settings are correct- 8.5", letter size, etc.. Probably something a firmware update or software patch could correct, but there is no telling since customer support has been essentially non-existent. I have been dealing with this issue for almost a year now and would not recommend this unit to anyone.

speedy and precise
I was using an all-in-one when i started my transition to a paperless work place. The old system wasn't quite cutting it so I went with the sheet fed scanner, big improvement. pretty easy to set up and install, the user interface is not very intuitive so it required some tinkering around. Once everything was figured out though this scanner works very quickly and precisely.

Highly Impressed
I was a little hestitant to purchase a somewhat complex product like a sheet-fed scanner from a company I hadn't heard of before. On my last buy, I went with a name brand (HP Scanjet 5590) that worked ok for a while but then had seemingly incurable feed problems - particularly when duplexing. After reading a lot of reviews, I bit the bullet (so to speak) and went with the iVina 400s and I'm glad I did. I haven't done a huge amount of scanning yet, but I've done enough to see the difference in the iVina technology and to see the benefits.First, it's fast, very fast. While I haven't formally benchmarked it, I think it comes close to the 20ppm/40ipm (images per minute) speed they're claiming. The paper handling has been flawless so far (having scanned maybe 200 sheets to date). One of the reasons for this is because it uses a straight single-pass paper path - meaning that when it feeds a sheet through, it scans both sides at once, rather than scan one side, then take the sheet back through to scan the other side. I don't foresee any feeder problems with this unit. There's a setting that will sense misfeeds (like if it pulls two sheets, for example) and will alert you to it. It can also sense blank pages and automatically eliminate them from the finished scan document. They've included a set of software that will do pretty much anything I can imagine I'd ever need. The basics, scan as an image, scan to PDF, are there, of course. But it also has a business card scanning function and performs OCR on any scan, if specified. So far, the accuracy of the OCR seems very good. Their BulletScan Manager software allows you to set up at least 10 different scanning 'buttons' that will perform different functions. For example, one button can be for business cards, another for multipage color PDF's at 400 dpi, etc., it can also automatically launch a program (like the included version of Pagemaker) or just put the completed scan into the location of your choice. It's highly configurable, but has 'easy' one touch options that should fit almost any need. One tip: The scanner seemingly installed fine with Windows 7 64-bit. But I found that the BulletScan Manager software (the software that handles all of the advanced and one touch features) just wouldn't run. It was there, but wouldn't start. After trying a few work arounds, I found that uninstalling the software associated with my HP Scanjet (about three different packages) did the trick. Somehow the HP software seemed to be blocking BulletScan and keeping it from running...or maybe there was something in Windows that didn't like having two active scanners on the same system. But, if you have problems getting BulletScan Manager to work, uninstall and disconnect any other scanners you have and see if it works for you.
