The nib is not made in France.
Whether or not the pen is good, it is still an apparent counterfeit, since the nib is not marked as produced in France. The product image clearly shows FRANCE engraved on the nib, which is the common practice for marking high-quality nibs. The pen I received has no country engraved on the nib. So, I can believe that this pen has been produced by Waterman, i.e. assembled from Waterman parts, including the nib, however there is a good reason to believe that this Waterman nib is produced by Waterman outside of France, and the pen is assembled by Waterman also outside of France. Basically it is not imported from France, and is likely produced for emerging markets. If Waterman has nib versions produced in France but not engraved with "FRANCE", then they should not market its images with such engraving. I am returning this pen.

Quality Quality Quality!
A shock! I bought the pen not expecting much. To my surprise, it writes effortlessly even on rough, cheap coated paper. I used to think Pilot has a grip on inexpensive ink pen, but this pen opens my eyes, so much so that after testing it today, I immediately ordered the much more expensive "Carène" with 18K gold nib. The fine European nib is equivalent to Japanese medium fyi. This pen is lovely to hold in smaller hands, and worth way more than its price.Update:After using this pen for 4 days, it now writes smoother without skipping a beat even on cheap coated paper. Another sweet surprise is that the pen can easily write in position with the nib upside down, resulting in a super fine line and with 90% smoothness. That is an amazing feat with a steel nib. It proves that there is a high level of shaping an tuning of the nib.I eventually realize that the barrel is actually small for me to hold for more than 10 minutes.I will try the conventional barrel Waterman next.

Not Impressed!
Although on the Amazon page it says made in France, I think it refers to the general Waterman brand! I could not find any marking on the pens indicating where they were made. I am doubting if they are made in France. I have a more expensive Waterman with France engraved on its cap. In any case, I purchased two of these, both have scratchy nibs! My advice: Pay a little more and buy a LAMY Safari.

Writes well, inexpensive, works with a converter
I'm not a French snob. I don't know or care if these pens are made in France. I do care that a pen writes smoothly, has a fine line, that I can use it with a converter so I can use bottled ink, and I especially care that it does not leak. These pens do all this well, they are functionally sound and they feel good in my hand. They look professional and contrary to other reviews, I think they post well. They have a fine nib and are as smooth as other fountain pens I have used. I have the chrome, red and blue versions of this pen. The construction of the chrome one is slightly different, but they are functioning as I had hoped. The converter works well with the pens. You do have to buy the converter separately, so add $10 if you want to go that route.

Not a Waterman!
Counterfeit pen if you can call it counterfeit when it doesn't actually say Waterman. Going to keep it because it writes good for a $14.00 pen. Be carefuel, you get what you pay for.

An exceptional value.
I have three fountain pens and have used them for 8+ years. I am a daily writer so actually use them. Original was a Waterman that I dropped on the nib earlier this year. After extensive research I ordered a new nib for $50. During this time I bought my 13 year old son this particular Waterman Graduate. I also acquired a MontBlanc from my fathers estate which is not top of the line MB but certainly a quality pen. It writes a little broad for my liking so now I need to have it tuned but still nice. My son had quit using this Graduate so I cleaned it last week and began using this one. I cannot get over the quality of this pen. Really a fabulous pen. Better daily writer than the MB so far. For the $20 you cannot go wrong. I visit clients and frequently write notes during meetings. At this price if anyone remarks on it I can give them the pen to begin their fountain pen journey and get another. Great pen bottom line.

A great pen.
I am pleasantly surprised by this pen. I have been using fountain items on and off for years, but usually Chinese made and of inconsistent writing quality. My last fountain pen was one I got for eight dollars at the bookstore, branded "Ooly", which hardly writes at all. For twenty dollars, this, however, is a fine pen.It weighs a couple of ounces, I think. It has a good heft. Not as heavy as I'd like, but not lightweight. I got an 8-pack of "Mysterious Blue" cartridges to go with it, but used the blue cartridge that came in the box with the pen. It was easy to insert, and popped in right away. Literally two presses onto the paper and the ink started flowing. The Waterman writes smoothly and doesn't scratch or skip at all. Nice, wet ink flow that's not so fast that you leave spots all over if you pause frequently, as I do. I took a picture of the ink on a standard wire bound notebook paper. I wish I had good stationary to test it on, but you can get a sense of how it writes, hopefully. I have a heavy hand; the pen actually writes finer on less fibrous paper. I work at a men's clothing store, and this pen will be great for keeping in my jacket pocket to use when filling out tailoring cards when fitting customers. It's such a nice compliment to professional dress. I'm well pleased with this Waterman pen.

AWESOME pen for the $$
I've been a long time fountain pen user. Waterman Experts, Metropolitan Pilots and Lamy Safari. The graduate does not have the finish of the enameled high end pens but it writes well and isn't scratchy on good paper. The cap doesn't post well- it just jams on the body of the pen- like the Pilot and Lamy low end pens. But it's a keeper. I'll probably use this as my "travel" pen. If I accidentally leave it in the TSA bin, I won't have a heart attack about it. It writes significantly better than the Metropolitan without skipping if I write quickly. My Lamy's are mediums so they write great but aren't very efficient and lay down too much ink on recycled papers.

Writes smoothly, well balanced, reliable ink flow
The ink flow is very reliable, and I've had hardly any 'skips' or scratchiness from the nib. I bought some Clairefontaine notebooks (which were on special offer) along with this pen, as it's one of the most highly praised papers for fountain pen use, and they complement each other perfectly. The finish on the pen is smooth and soft and gives a good grip without any slipperiness. The pen writes with consistency, and I've had no spills, leaks, or blotchiness. The length of the pen is perfect for my average-sized hand, and the weight and balance is spot-on. It's made writing a pleasure.

Smooth and elegant
EDIT: the ink was Diamine Imperial Blue :)Excellent smooth writing experience, even when writing upside-down it delivers a non scratchy EF stroke similar to a Pilot 78G+. So far the only other pen I tried that you can write upside down is Sailor Lecoule. When writing normally it is a medium wet nib which gives you a nice little feedback. Although it says M nib in product listing, the pen I received has F engraved at the bottom of the nib. Anyway it's slightly thicker than a Lamy Safari F, Sailor Lecoule MF, and Pilot Urban Retro pop M nib.For the price it is a pen worth getting, and I am using a Jinhao universal ink converter with no problem at the moment.

A BEAUTIFUL BARGAIN !!!!
ALONG WITH STUNNING LOOKS THAT THE PHOTOS - BOTH OF THE ADVERTISER & I - CANNOT DO JUSTICE WITH, THIS ‘ WATERMAN ALLURE FOUNTAIN PEN ‘ GLIDES SMOOTHLY ACROSS THE PAGE. ONCE AGAIN I HAVE TO APOLOGISE FOR ANY SHAKY LOOKING HANDWRITING, AS I WAS WRITING ON A PAD BALANCED ON MY LEG. I AM A BIT OF A PEN-HEAD, IF THERE IS SUCH A DESCRIPTION. I HAVE A COLLECTION OF OVER 30+ FOUNTAIN PENS. I CAN HONESTLY SAY TO YOU - IN MY CAPACITY OF A VINE VOICE - THAT I WOULD NOT LEAD YOU ASTRAY. THIS WATERMAN ALLURE FOUNTAIN PEN WRITES AS WELL AS OTHER FOUNTAIN PENS AT TRIPLE THE PRICE. THIS IS A TRUE BARGAIN & THEY DON’T COME ALONG THAT OFTEN.. 5/5 STARS ALL THE WAY..... ( since writing this review Amazon have increased the price by £6.00 $7.45. I no longer consider it to be value for money & that it is now a little too expensive. Thank You )

Excelente calidad y confiabilidad a buen precio.
