Good Girls Stay Quiet

Jo Cassidy is an excellent storyteller! I was hooked on the first page and stayed up all night to finish this amazing and very moving novel. And now I’m going to read everything else she’s written and follow her for more adventures to come.

A 15 year old girl, abused, beaten, traumatized, locked away in her home by the only father she knows. When a neighbor makes it her business as to why the child was not in school, she was enrolled in public school. That was the beginning of the unraveling of her life. Things change rapidly, becoming more volatile and unpredictable, and teachers and students begin to notice the strange things going on with Cora. Kidnapped children aren't sure who to fear, who to trust, who to turn to for help. This journey for Cora is scary and poignant, and the ending is everything you hope for.

This was an amazing read! I related to so much of it and I love how she took control. Would read again.

The story is a wonderful premise and the author could have chosen so many directions to take the reader, she chose boring and predictable.Cora’s supposed best “human” friend does a lot of damage for as little participation as she has in her life and yet is never called out for anything.Cora’s best friends are inanimate creatures that are never fully explained nor developed by the author and seem to aid in the confusion surrounding Cora herself.The pivotal moment at the end is more confusion and little else. It wasn’t a good explanation and all though it answered the questions brought during the body of the story, up it wasn’t satisfying.

An emotionally invoking book. Start to finish the book didn't let up. Kidnapped beat Stockholm syndrome and brainwashing at its finest. Follow this storyline and and fall into it. Amazing writing. You'll love the ending.

Cora will be a character that stays with me for a very long time. The author did an amazing job of bringing the fear, confusion, and even the understanding to life. The character development was amazing.

First time reading this author. .. also I want to say that there is physical, emotional and verbal abuse. The story, I thought was written well and it kept me captivated. The only thing that bothered me was the towards the end. It seemed really fast what had happened. Point.. Brendon, what was done to him by the daddy but no mention of him receiving medical aid. It felt off. BUT, I enjoyed reading it.

From the moment I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. I had to force myself awake a few times but never for lack of excitement. There was not a single slow moment that I had to power through to get to the up tempo, it held my attention with bated breath from start to finish. What a fantastic story! The character development was so brilliant that I could see and feel each one as though they were standing in front of me. I found the quirky idea of Cora’s disassociation being expressed through her inanimate best friends to be fresh and creative and just really loved the writing style of this new to me author. I can’t wait to read more from her! This book just really punched me in the gut and I’m sure it will stay with me for a while. It will definitely fly high on my list of favorite’s and be recommended at every opportunity.

Will she ever find who it is before things get out of hand and the book goes into daddy's hands!!A perfectly bone chilling thriller and a book that wrecks your emotions, the writing style is peculiarly Jo, the plot is well constructed, the characters have relevant background and relatable quirks, the cover is perfect for a thriller and the title is a brilliant play on words.

Started this book this morning ended it tonight. No Washing. Done ,ironing or food cooked. Couldn’t put it down. . Well done Jo Cassidy.

From the moment I began reading, I was captivated by the story that unfolded and revealed itself through every page! Definitely one that I couldn’t put down! This story is an absolutely heartbreaking yet courageous one that keeps you guessing all the way along! By far, the best read I have had in a very long time! The author is brilliant in their writing style and content. 5 stars all round!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and found it hard to put down. It was well written and kept me on edge. The storyline was difficult to read at times seeing what this poor girl had to go through. I think I'm going to cringe a little bit whenever I hear someone say daddy. Thank you for writing this book
